Weirdness 10. Genuinely dark, properly strange, and unlike anything else under this banner. Rated 5.7.

A WWII nurse (Candace Cameron Bure) is carried from 1945 to 2016 by a rare Christmas comet, then has to navigate a world full of things like gluten-free toothpaste. Weirdness 10. The supernatural hook is a comet acting as a time machine, plus a quiet realization about how her kindnesses rippled forward through the years. Tom Skerritt co-stars. Rated 7 over 3,500 votes. A comet as fate, played completely earnestly, and all the better for it.

Noelle (Candace Cameron Bure) gets locked in a department store overnight and meets Charlie, a guardian-angel-in-training who openly says she's bad at her job and uses magical shoes to walk Noelle through her own past, present, and possible futures. Weirdness 10. Jean Smart and Luke Macfarlane co-star. It's A Christmas Carol staged in a shoe department, and it fully commits. Rated 6.5. Angels, magic, and time-hops all at once.

A lonely neurosurgeon (Lyndsy Fonseca) boards her usual commuter train and it turns into a magic train that drops her in her hometown in 2011. Weirdness 10. The ticket agent is essentially a Christmas wizard, and the film runs on full Back-to-the-Future logic. Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson appear, which feels entirely deliberate. Rated 7. Supernatural by public transit, and sincerely done.

A magical messenger sends Lindsay three years into the future at Christmastime, giving her a glimpse of where today's choice may lead.

A ruthless publishing exec nicknamed "Stalin in Stilettos" (Emmanuelle Vaugier) gets the Scrooge treatment, with the ghost of her dead boss turning up in a restroom stall and a staff plotting an actual revolution. Weirdness 10. Carrie Fisher co-stars. It blends ghosts and a past-present-future journey, and the small details, the "Board of Correctors," the chanting employees, are what tip it over the edge. Rated 5.8, but the audacity is sky-high.

Santa sets off a day early, crashes onto a work-obsessed Milwaukee family's roof, loses his memory and his magic sack, and ends up parked on their couch like a stray pet. Weirdness 10. There's a head elf named Nigel Thumb who brawls with a festival security guard, reindeer hidden in a suburban backyard all day, and a magic word that turns out to be Mrs. Claus's name. Jennifer Beals co-stars. Rated 5.6. A frantic family fantasy that throws everything at the wall.

A big-city reporter (Jordan Ladd) rolls into a small town to mock its legendary wishing well, tosses in a coin half as a joke, and wishes to be happy. Then magic happens. Weirdness 10. Ernest Borgnine and Sally Kellerman feature. The premise is pure wish-fulfillment fairy tale, a skeptic undone by the very thing she came to laugh at, and our database logs nothing past the setup, so I'll leave it right there. Rated 6.1.

A burnt-out Christmas marketing exec (Lyndsy Fonseca) wishes the holiday would just disappear, then wakes in a grayscale world where she's the only one who remembers it. Weirdness 10. The film actually shoots most of its runtime in black and white, Pleasantville-style, with color returning as people heal. A creepy marketing app with a robotic Santa voice plays the monkey's paw. An ethical project manager (James Denton) makes a wish to a mysterious Santa at a train station and wakes up as a wealthy, ruthless CEO with no family. Weirdness 9. There's a ticking-clock twist where he starts losing the memories of his children, plus a high-tech coffee machine that holds conversations with him. Teri Hatcher co-stars, reuniting two Desperate Housewives leads. Rated 7. A wish-magic life swap with a sharper, more bittersweet edge than most.

An ad exec (Alicia Witt) who lies constantly gets hit with a Christmas curse, courtesy of her niece's wish to Santa, that forces her to speak only the truth out loud. Weirdness 9. Cue professional chaos, including her honest opinion of rental skates that smell like corned beef and cabbage, and her hands physically patting her down for money she doesn't have. Rated 6 over more than 2,200 votes. A Liar Liar premise filtered through a mall Santa, and a lot of fun for it.

A workaholic Nashville TV producer (Jessy Schram) gets a visit from her recently deceased mentor, who warns her that her current path leads somewhere dark. Weirdness 9. It's A Christmas Carol with a country-music engine: the Spirit of Christmas Past is a singer, and Wynonna Judd and Sara Evans turn up. Wes Brown co-stars. Rated 6.3. A ghostly redemption story that swaps clanking chains for guitars, and I'm delighted it exists.

Christmas spirits visit Carol, a self-absorbed television personality, and challenge her to change her ways. The supernatural visits put her outlook and choices to the test.

Brian meets Nora in the garden of his new home, although she is living in 1960 and he is fifty years ahead. What starts as an impossible connection becomes a chance to change her fate.

Former orchestra conductor Gethsemane Brown (Tamera Mowry-Housley) moves to a remote Irish village to teach, takes over a dead composer's house, and after decoding a musical message, meets his ghost, who swears he's innocent of the crime everyone blames him for. Weirdness 9. The ghost can only communicate through her and a piano, and describes limbo as no fun at all. Rated 7.1. A musical haunting with a cold case attached, and a premise I can't get enough of.

Two kids get a magical pen from a mysterious Santa and start writing letters to wish their estranged parents back together. Weirdness 9. The standout detail: the mall Santa has a mole on his nose that the children mistake for Rudolph's red light, which is the kind of nudge-nudge "he's the real one" gag the genre loves. Katie Leclerc leads. Rated 5.9. A wish-magic family reconciliation with the supernatural dialed to maximum sincerity.

Judd Nelson plays Santa Claus, who discovers kids have gotten too greedy and has to prove otherwise or watch his favorite holiday get canceled. Weirdness 9. The premise that tickles me most: Santa is governed by a corporate board of directors and goes undercover as a school janitor named Kris Frost to reform some incorrigible children. Rated 5.4. A "Santa with a job-performance review" comedy that's far stranger than its poster admits.

A young boy realizes his new home comes with a ghost, and sets out to unravel the mystery of why the spirit is still hanging around. Weirdness 9. Martin Mull and Rhea Perlman feature, which is a charmingly odd pairing for a kid-led haunting. Rated 5.9. The premise is simple and very Hallmark, a friendly ghost with unfinished business, but the family-mystery framing earns its high weirdness. A gentle, slightly creaky little ghost story.

A screenwriter (Bethany Joy Lenz) is sent to the Biltmore Estate to research a remake of a 1947 holiday film, knocks over an hourglass, and finds herself transported to the original movie's set in 1946. Weirdness 9. The hourglass-as-time-machine and the movie-within-a-movie framing make this one a treat, with Jonathan Frakes and Robert Picardo in the mix. Kristoffer Polaha co-stars. A devoted Jane Austen fan (Alison Sweeney) wishes she could talk to her favorite author, and then Jane Austen herself shows up. Weirdness 9. The detail that sells it: the ghost of Austen physically moves into her apartment for days, obsesses over whether modern men own cattle, and watches an adaptation of her own book to rate the actors. Lolly (Lyndsy Fonseca) is handed four magical lemon drops by her eccentric Aunt Gert, and each one lets her live out a version of her life shaped by a different choice. Weirdness 9. It's essentially multiverse-hopping via hard candy, the drops sourced from a carnival psychic named Esmerelda, with a "fourth drop" rule that works like a save-state. Ian Harding co-stars. Inventor Charles Whitley (Ryan Paevey) winds a mysterious antique clock during a "Christmas Moon" in 1903 and lands in 2020, where his old mansion is now a museum run by historian Megan (Erin Cahill). Weirdness 8. The clock-as-portal and the gag where everyone assumes he's just a very dedicated method actor are the fun of it. Rated 7 over more than 3,800 votes. A fish-out-of-time Christmas romance, played completely straight and all the warmer for it.
