What Makes a Hallmark Movie "Unusual"?
We score every movie on a weirdness scale of 1-10 based on how much it deviates from the standard Hallmark formula. Here's what we look for:
High Weirdness Factors
- Supernatural Elements (+2-5 points) - Time travel, ghosts, angels, body swaps, and other supernatural movies where wishes come true
- Royalty (+2 points) - Princes, princesses, and fictional kingdoms
- Amnesia (+2 points) - Memory loss as a plot device
- Santa Appearances (+1.5 points) - Actual Santa Claus in the movie
- Historical Settings (+2 points) - Period pieces are rare
