Full story (spoilers)
A ghost-hunting docuseries is filming at Dorian Castle when co-host Kent Dempsey is murdered. Gethsemane Brown can see Kent's ghost, and Eamon McCarthy, the ghost she already knows, helps Kent understand his death. Gethsemane and Inspector O'Reilly find that Kent was stabbed in a turret room and dragged through a hidden passage.
Thermal footage, a hex screwdriver, a blue tarp, and a manufactured voice recording initially frame cinematographer Eliza. A second victim, director-producer Roj, dies from carbon-monoxide poisoning after trying to blackmail someone over what he saw. The betting debt and Ed James's grudge supply red herrings, but the evidence shows that someone on the crew planted each clue.
Gethsemane exposes production assistant Zak. He killed Kent because he blamed him for destroying his mother's career and family, then killed Roj after Roj caught him and demanded money. Zak framed Eliza and later Ciara before Gethsemane confronted him.
Kent reaches acceptance and tells Ciara what he could not say while alive. Gethsemane and O'Reilly also admit their feelings, and O'Reilly's anniversary performance closes the story with music and a cautious step toward romance.
Beat by beat
Opening
A ghost-themed documentary crew films overnight at Dorian Castle, introducing Ciara, Kent, Roj, Eliza, and the production's messy, smoke-filled style. Gethsemane Brown is pulled into the shoot's orbit as she reconnects with the castle, the crew, and Inspector O'Reilly.
Inciting incident
Kent Dempsey is found dead in the castle after wrapping for the night, and Gethsemane and O'Reilly begin treating the death as a murder rather than an accident.
Rising action
The investigation turns toward the crew's fractured relationships, including Kent's fallout with Ciara, Eliza's intense attachment to him, Roj's money problems, and Ed James's public grudge against Kent.
Midpoint
A thermal camera and a whispering audio file seem to implicate Eliza, but the evidence is later exposed as manipulated, shifting suspicion away from the obvious target and revealing that the killer is deliberately framing people.
Conflict escalates
Roj is found dead from carbon-monoxide poisoning, showing that the killer is still active and that the murders are linked to debt, blackmail, and the show's finances as well as personal resentment.

Resolution
Zak confesses and the case is closed. Kent reaches acceptance and says goodbye to Ciara, while Gethsemane and O'Reilly admit their feelings and the story ends with music.
