    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A literal magical stocking that teleports physical objects into itself to solve specific plot problems.
    • The stocking provides a lightbulb at the exact moment a vintage light strand fails.
    • The protagonist's husband died in a 'puppy-related' car accident, which is a very specific and dark backstory for a Hallmark film.
    • The mother wins a contest by using a date on a magically-appearing ornament to guess the exact number of coins in a jar down to the penny ($1,225.47).

    Full story (spoilers)
Lindsey Monroe is a widow living in the small town of Gilford with her daughter, Hannah. Three years after her husband Doug's death, Lindsey remains hesitant to fully embrace the Christmas spirit, though her mother Donna arrives from Florida determined to change that. The town's Mayor, Fred Barnes, hires Scott Terrell to restore the town square's gazebo for the 75th anniversary tree-lighting ceremony. Lindsey and Scott initially clash over the tight deadline and Scott's insistence on historical authenticity, as he wants to honor his late grandfather who originally built the structure. At a church rummage sale, Hannah buys an old, used stocking from a mysterious woman. Soon after, a puppy nametag engraved with the name 'Magic' appears inside the empty stocking. This coincides with Hannah finding a stray puppy, which she also names Magic. As the holiday approaches, the stocking continues to produce items: first, a missing 1947 'Calling Bird' ornament that completes Donna's vintage set and allows her to win a town contest by guessing the exact amount of coins in a jar (the total matching the date on the ornament). Lindsey struggles with these 'coincidences,' eventually revealing to her mother that Doug died in a car accident while on his way to buy Hannah a puppy, which is why she is so resistant to getting a dog. Meanwhile, Scott is stuck on the gazebo restoration because he lacks the original plans. The stocking manifests a small key, which Hannah discovers fits a hidden compartment in an old desk that belonged to Scott's grandfather. Inside are the original blueprints. Conflict arises when the owners of the stray puppy claim him, leaving Hannah heartbroken. Scott, unaware of the trauma surrounding Lindsey's husband's death, tries to help by getting Hannah a new puppy (also named Magic), which initially upsets Lindsey. However, Donna encourages Lindsey to stop taking 'two steps back' and allow herself to be happy. On the night of the tree lighting, the vintage lights Scott ordered fail because of a single broken bulb. Lindsey, finally choosing to believe in the stocking's power, reaches inside and finds the exact replacement bulb needed. The square is successfully lit, the town celebrates, and Lindsey and Scott share a kiss. One year later, Lindsey and Scott, now a couple, return the stocking to the mysterious woman at the rummage sale so it can help another family in need.
