Vincent Gale is the kind of actor Hallmark slots in around the leads, never as one, and across 13 films since 2008 he has built a quietly reliable supporting career. He plays it straight, no winking at the camera, which suits the small towns he keeps turning up in. Here is the surprise: not one of his films is a Christmas title, which is almost a feat of avoidance for a Hallmark regular. Fall is more his speed.
