Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Goldy Berry and her friend Marla preparing for a lavish medieval-themed fundraiser at Hyde Castle, hosted by the eccentric billionaire Sir Alistair Harrell. The atmosphere is tense as Alistair, a man with many enemies, fires the school's fencing coach, Pierre, and taunts Baron Sweetwater, whose company he acquired in a hostile takeover. Alistair hints at a 'showstopper' announcement he plans to make after the feast. Meanwhile, US Marshal Gerard Track (Detective Dave Track's father) arrives at the castle, informing Detective Tom Schultz that his estranged father, Edmund Schultz, has escaped from prison and may be heading their way. During the evening's fencing exhibition, Alistair collapses and dies; it is discovered he was stabbed with a fencing epee. A massive snowstorm traps all guests inside, and the phone lines are cut, forcing Tom, Dave, and Detective Mason Kildea to conduct an impromptu investigation without forensic kits. Goldy assists by using kitchen supplies like hydrogen peroxide to test for blood and mason jars for evidence collection. The investigation reveals that Alistair was dying of cancer and intended to use his 'big announcement' to clear his conscience. A secret room in the library contains millions in cash and a ledger detailing payments to a mysterious 'Dr. Tag Archer.' Suspicion initially falls on Coach Pierre and the butler, Klaus, but the stakes rise when Tom's father, Edmund, is spotted in the castle. It is revealed that Alistair had actually arranged Edmund's escape to clear his name, as Edmund was framed 25 years ago for a murder Alistair was involved in. The mystery deepens when Judge Agatha Winford is found dead after being strangled and thrown from a window. Goldy eventually realizes that 'Dr. Tag Archer' is an anagram for 'Gerard Track.' It is revealed that Gerard was the 'dirty cop' who framed Edmund decades ago and killed Alistair to prevent him from confessing. In a final confrontation, Tom and Goldy find Gerard's gun hidden in a grandfather clock, proving his guilt. Gerard is arrested by the FBI, Edmund is exonerated, and Tom and Goldy finally share a romantic moment after the ordeal.
