Why we’d put this one on

Weirdness 8 and a must for Cassie Nightingale fans. Now mayor of Middleton and a new mom, Catherine Bell's good witch faces a PR crisis when a video of her seemingly vanishing goes viral, drawing a cynical reporter out to prove she is a fraud, just as a string of robberies sets suspicion on her own family. Chris Potter is back as Jake. The film leans into its central running joke: is she actually a witch, or just lucky? There is a townsperson running a "Citizens for a Safe Middleton" patrol armed with a coach's whistle. Cozy, charming, and a fun watch for anyone deep in the Good Witch world.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Cassie Nightingale and her husband, Police Chief Jake Russell, adjusting to the exhaustion of life with their newborn daughter, Grace. Middleton has recently been named one of the most charming towns in North America, but the celebration is short-lived when travel blogger Henry Kael captures a video of Cassie appearing to disappear into thin air. The video goes viral, leading to a media frenzy that paints Cassie as a 'witch' or a con artist, much to the chagrin of the dramatic Martha Tinsdale. Amidst this, a series of shoplifting incidents and home burglaries begin to worry the residents. Cassie's estranged foster mother, Doris, arrives in town, bringing with her a history of disapproval regarding Cassie's 'unusual' and 'nonsensical' ways. Meanwhile, Jake's daughter Lori, feeling isolated from her peers, befriends two newcomers, Justin and Katie. Unbeknownst to Lori, Justin and Katie are the thieves responsible for the local crime wave. They manipulate Lori's trust and hide their stolen loot in the Russell family garage to divert suspicion. As Henry Kael writes increasingly negative articles about Cassie, the pressure mounts for her to resign as mayor. The situation reaches a breaking point when the police discover the stolen goods in Cassie's garage, casting a shadow of guilt over Lori. However, Cassie remains calm, trusting her instincts and the goodness of those around her. She eventually confronts Justin, using an antique book to connect with his childhood trauma and encouraging him to take responsibility. Simultaneously, Deputy Derek realizes the 'disappearing act' in the viral video was a simple optical illusion caused by a mirror being carried past the camera at the perfect moment. George, Jake's father-in-law, struggles with feeling obsolete but finds renewed purpose after fixing Cassie's car using an antique tool she gave him; he ultimately proposes to his girlfriend, Gwen. The film concludes with the thieves in custody, Cassie's reputation restored, and the family—including a now-supportive Doris—heading off on a celebratory camping trip.
