Why we’d put this one on

Catherine Bell's Cassie helps a famous author realize her fictional Tarynsville stories are secretly built on the real history of Grey House, all during a massive Halloween book launch. Weirdness 9, and the town antics are a hoot: a mayor ordering the police chief to sledgehammer a wall for a promotion, and a woman dating three men who all booked the same B&B on the same night. At 7.8 it is the highest-rated Good Witch entry in this batch. Bailee Madison's Grace recovers from an accident with help from James Denton's Dr. Sam. Cozy, warm, and very Middleton.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a crisis as Grace, Cassie Nightingale's daughter, is rushed to the hospital following a ten-foot fall during a rock-climbing accident. Dr. Sam Radford treats her for a concussion and a shoulder injury, noting that she called out for her late father upon waking—a sign of the lingering grief she and Cassie still process. Meanwhile, Middleton is buzzing with the arrival of best-selling author Jessica and her editor Sean for the launch of the final book in the 'Tarynsville' series. Mayor Martha Tinsdale, desperate to outshine her college nemesis Meredith, attempts to physically transform Middleton into the fictional town from the books. A central conflict arises when Jessica insists on finding a specific courtyard with a fireplace for a midnight reading, a location that perfectly matches her descriptions. Martha's search leads to a comedic disaster where she convinces the police chief to knock down a wall in Abigail's flower shop, only to find a collapsed, useless hearth. Abigail, Cassie's cousin, manages her own subplot as she dates three different men simultaneously, only for all three to book rooms at Grey House through a mysterious 'internet special.' The men eventually encounter each other at the book event, leading to a triple-breakup that forces Abigail to reconsider her approach to romance. As the deadline for the reading approaches, Jessica discovers a hidden fireplace at Grey House that bears a unique mason's mark identical to the one in her books. During the midnight reading, the fireplace seemingly lights itself, and a secret compartment is discovered containing a ruby necklace belonging to Jessica's 'Nana.' It is revealed that Jessica's grandmother lived at Grey House, and the 'fictional' stories were actually family history. This discovery prompts Sean to propose to Jessica. In the final resolution, Sam decides to quit his stressful hospital commute to return to being Middleton's full-time town doctor. The movie concludes with Cassie admitting to Sam that while she used to wake up thinking of her late husband, this morning she woke up thinking of him, marking a significant progression in their relationship.
