    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Martha Tinsdale's inauguration as the new Mayor of Middleton, succeeding Cassie Nightingale. Martha immediately discovers that her ambitious Botanical Gardens project is $177,000 over budget. To help, Cassie suggests a silent auction and hires a newcomer, Audrey Bennett, to help at her shop, Bell, Book & Candle. Simultaneously, Cassie's stepson Brandon returns with his fiancée Tara; though they initially postpone their wedding due to Brandon's new job on a music tour, they impulsively decide to get married in just eight days. This creates a whirlwind of planning, complicated by Tara's aunt Beverly, who pushes for a more traditional and expensive ceremony. As the auction approaches, a man named Grant Dressel arrives in town, claiming to be a marketing expert. He offers to help Martha with an online catalog for the auction items. However, it is revealed that Grant is actually Audrey's abusive husband who has tracked her down. He blackmails Audrey into stealing the auction items—including a rare Kachina doll and a family heirloom watch—by threatening to harm Cassie's family. When the items go missing and Audrey disappears, Chief Jake Russell and Officer Derek find evidence of Audrey at a pawn shop, leading the town to believe she is a common thief. Cassie, however, senses there is more to the story and remains supportive of Audrey. Audrey eventually returns to Cassie and confesses the truth about Grant's coercion. To catch him, Cassie and Martha concoct a plan: they leak a rumor that the stolen Kachina doll is an extremely rare artifact worth $50,000. Greed drives Grant to attempt to sell the doll to a museum curator, who is actually a plainclothes officer. Grant is arrested, and the stolen items are recovered. In the subplot, Cassie's stepdaughter Lori navigates a romance with her editor, Jim, aided by a 'Camera Obscura' Cassie gave her to find focus. The film concludes with Brandon and Tara's successful garden wedding, Audrey deciding to stay in Middleton to study veterinary medicine, and Martha successfully launching her gardens.
