Why we’d put this one on

Catherine Bell's Cassie and James Denton's Sam are headed for a Halloween wedding when their venue floods and the legendary Heart of Middleton ruby vanishes from the museum, draining the town's romantic luck just before the festival. Weirdness 9, and the lore goes big: a 200-year-old blood feud between two towns over a vanished bride, a mayor losing her job over a property line drawn two centuries ago, and a perfectly heart-shaped pumpkin in the patch. At 7.4 and a full 120 minutes, it is a satisfying chapter for Good Witch loyalists. Comfort viewing with a side of small-town intrigue.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a historical prologue set in 1818, detailing the tragic romance of Patience Merriwick and William Spry. William unearthed a magical ruby, the 'Heart of Middleton,' to lead his heart back to Patience, but the two vanished before their wedding, leaving a rift between Middleton and Blairsville. In the present day, Cassie Nightingale and Sam Radford are preparing for their own wedding, but a flood at their venue, Cypress Villa, forces them to postpone. Meanwhile, new museum curator Karen Alexander arrives to display the Merriwick ruby for a 200th-anniversary gala. The plot thickens when the ruby is stolen from its pedestal with no sign of a break-in, causing the town's romantic atmosphere to sour. Simultaneously, a boundary dispute reveals that Mayor Martha Tinsdale's house is technically in Blairsville, leading to her removal from office. Abigail Pershing takes over as mayor, while a vengeful Martha becomes the Grand Marshal for Blairsville, leading them in the Halloween Harvest Festival. As Middleton loses the initial festival events like the pumpkin toss and face painting, relationships across town begin to fray, including those of Grey House guests Addison and Edward. Cassie remains a calming influence, helping Karen confront a past heartbreak from Paris and encouraging Nick and Grace to find their own talents through the scarecrow competition. The narrative follows the town's struggle to maintain its pride and heart while investigating the mysterious disappearance of the ruby, which seems to have a supernatural hold over the town's collective happiness.
