A Kismet Christmas

The film opens with Sarah Grace, a famous author, giving a sneak preview of her second 'Isabella' book. Her agent, Benny, announces that the winner of the Isabella Christmas contest is from New Britain, Maine—Sarah's hometown. Sarah is privately distressed because she hasn't returned in ten years, following a traumatic Christmas Eve where she used a family 'Kismet Cookie' to identify her true love. In a flashback, a teenage Sarah dreams of Travis Walker, the boy next door, and confesses her love to him, only for him to reveal he is getting married. Sarah arrives at her Grandmother Mia's house and discovers the contest winner is Jasmine 'Jazzy' Walker, Travis's daughter. Travis is now a single father working for the forestry service. Sarah struggles with writer's block for her sequel, as the original book was based on the 'Kismet Cookie' legend: a recipe that, if followed exactly and slept with under a pillow, reveals one's true love in a dream. Sarah had ripped up the recipe in anger years ago, believing the magic failed her. Throughout the week, Sarah participates in local traditions like 'Dickens in the Park' and a town-wide scavenger hunt. She bonds with Jazzy over a book donation project called 'Let's Read at Christmas.' Meanwhile, subplots involve Gramma Mia secretly preparing to sell her house to teach English abroad, and a budding romance between Mayor Schebly and Patsy, the candy shop owner. Travis takes Sarah to a remote family cabin to help her find inspiration, where they reconnect over old memories and his eccentric van, the 'Moon Boat.' Sarah finally finishes her manuscript, realizing she wants to use her real name, Sarah Collins, rather than her pseudonym. On Christmas Eve, the 'magic' returns when Sarah finds the lost recipe and bakes a batch for the town. Patsy uses a cookie to confirm her feelings for the Mayor, who gives her a necklace—described by the town gossip as 'gateway jewelry.' Sarah initially plans to leave for New York with Benny, but she discovers that Jazzy had secretly placed a kismet cookie under Sarah's pillow, causing Sarah to dream of Travis again. In the final resolution, Sarah decides to buy Gramma Mia's house to keep it in the family and stay in New Britain. Travis confesses he has loved her since a childhood incident involving a 'bear' (which was actually a dog), and the two finally embrace their kismet.
