    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The 'Time Nomad' theory involving neuroscientists and stress-induced amnesia regarding 'when' someone is.
    • Maggie practicing law and citing future precedents before she has even graduated law school.
    • The undercover sequence where Josh pretends to be a towel boy named 'Brett' who loves Xbox and Hyundai Elantras.
    • The protagonist essentially stealing documents from a briefcase to win a court case.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Maggie Turner, a ruthless 'barracuda' lawyer in Chicago, whose marriage to history teacher Josh is strained by her workaholism and his feeling of being 'picked up as slack.' During a trip to her parents' 40th anniversary, the couple reaches a breaking point. After wishing for a do-over, Maggie trips in the dark, hits her head, and wakes up in 2006. She is 22 again, living with her parents, and dating her college sweetheart, Rick Morgan. Maggie quickly realizes she has retained all her memories and legal knowledge from the future. She encounters Josh, who at this time is just a friend and fellow academic decathlon teammate. Josh is leading a desperate campaign to save the town's historic library from demolition by developer Michael Williams, who is represented by Maggie's future boss, Mal Baxter. Maggie decides to use her 'future' legal skills to represent Josh, shocking everyone with her advanced knowledge of case law like 'Illinois versus Camden.' As she spends time with Josh, she realizes that her future marriage failed because she stopped choosing him every day. Meanwhile, Rick proposes to her, representing the 'power couple' life she thought she wanted. Maggie's brother Ash, a geeky 'time nomad' theorist, is the only one she confides in about her situation. To stop the demolition, Maggie and Josh go undercover at a country club—adopting the personas 'Jocelyn' and 'Brett'—to find evidence of Michael Williams' financial fraud. They successfully copy documents proving Williams is scamming the city to buy property in Brazil. In a final courtroom showdown, Maggie bests Mal Baxter, saves the library, and exposes the fraud. She breaks up with Rick, realizing he only values her ambition, and confesses her love to Josh. After another accidental head bump, Maggie wakes up back in the present. However, her life has changed: she and Josh now live in their hometown, the library is a thriving community center, and they are a 'local power couple' who are deeply in love.
