    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The antagonist father literally records and edits phone calls like a spy to break up his daughter's college romance.
    • A 'Level 3 Coma' is used as a major Christmas plot device.
    • The 'One Penny' lease agreement as a legal resolution.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens seven years after the events of the first part, with Molly Callens living a high-pressure corporate life in Seattle and Ryan Kelly working as a touring musician. Their lives intersect again when a massive storm causes a flood at 'The Bridge' bookstore in Franklin. The owner, Charlie Barton, is devastated by the lack of insurance coverage and, while driving in the storm, suffers a severe car accident that leaves him in a 'level 3' coma. Both Molly and Ryan return to Franklin independently to support Charlie's wife, Donna. While Charlie remains unresponsive on a respirator, Molly and Ryan work together to save the bookstore, which is facing a January 1st foreclosure deadline. Molly uses her marketing expertise to create a viral social media campaign, while Ryan rediscovers his songwriting voice, performing at the local bar, Lucky. The romance is complicated by misunderstandings: Molly believes Ryan is married to his ex, Kristen, while Ryan believes Molly is engaged to her father's business associate, Preston. The conflict reaches a climax when Molly's father arrives in Franklin and it is revealed that he sabotaged their relationship years ago by intercepting and editing a recorded phone call to make Ryan believe Molly didn't love him. After Charlie miraculously wakes up to the sound of Christmas carols, Molly confronts her father, quits her role as CEO-in-waiting, and uses her inheritance to anonymously purchase the bookstore building. She grants Charlie and Donna a 'one penny' annual lease to ensure the store stays open forever. Ryan and Molly finally confess their true feelings, clearing up the years of deception, and decide to build a life together in Franklin, with Ryan pursuing a music publishing deal and Molly heading a new charitable foundation.
