    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Aurora Teagarden and her fiancé Nick Miller discussing the Sam Sheppard case, establishing Aurora's ongoing fascination with true crime. They prepare for Aurora’s 20-year high school reunion, which is being organized by the high-strung Cassie Reynolds. At the event, tensions are immediately apparent: Jack Landon, the former star athlete, arrives with his wife Amy, much to the chagrin of his ex-fiancée Cassie. Jack is also confronted by his former coach, Coach Caldwell, who is suing Jack over a failed business investment that led to the coach's bankruptcy. During the party, Jack is seen arguing with multiple people, including his wife and Parker Stevens, Aurora's high school sweetheart. When Jack goes missing from the ballroom, Aurora and Nick discover his body floating in the hotel pool, having been stabbed with a five-inch blade. Detective Arthur Smith leads the investigation, initially focusing on Coach Caldwell after Jack's blood is found on his shirt. However, Cassie claims she saw Parker Stevens arguing with Jack at the time of the murder. Aurora is conflicted due to her history with Parker but continues to dig into the evidence. She discovers that Jack’s wife, Amy, had a weak alibi and stood to gain from a life insurance policy, especially since Jack was allegedly planning a divorce. Aurora also tests Cassie’s alibi by proving that someone could climb down from the third-floor balcony to avoid security cameras. The breakthrough occurs when Aurora examines Jack's bank records and finds large, recurring deposits from a numbered account, suggesting he was a blackmailer. Remembering a detail about Parker’s height and a habit of hiding keys on high ledges, Aurora returns to the crime scene and finds the murder weapon—a missing cheese knife—hidden on a high trellis ledge. Parker confronts Aurora at the pool, confessing that Jack had been blackmailing him for years over a fatal hit-and-run accident Parker committed after Jack's bachelor party. Parker attempts to take Aurora hostage, but Nick and the police intervene. Parker falls into the pool during the struggle and is apprehended. The movie concludes with Aurora and Nick receiving Aida's blessing and finally setting a wedding date.
