    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist is the secret love-child of a famous actor, which is a recurring plot point in this specific trilogy.
    • The 'Father Christmas' of the title is actually a dead actor, not the holiday figure.
    • The uncle's primary conflict is that he was 'too arrogant' as a young pastor to accept his sister's relationship with a divorcing man.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Miranda Chester, an interior designer, finishing a job in Boston before heading to Carlton Heath, Vermont, for her Christmas Day wedding to Ian McKendrick. Miranda is the secret daughter of the late, legendary actor James Whitcomb, a discovery she made in previous films. While in Boston, she is approached by a man named Charles Finley, who later follows her to Vermont. He eventually reveals himself as Joseph Charles Finley, the brother of Miranda's late mother, Eve. Miranda is initially skeptical and defensive, as her mother always claimed to have no family, and she fears Charles is a stranger looking to exploit her father's fame. Meanwhile, Ian's mother, Margaret, is overjoyed by the wedding and begins over-planning, inviting many of James Whitcomb's old friends and suggesting the venue be moved from the couple's preferred cozy cottage to a larger estate to accommodate the growing guest list. One of these guests is Thomas Reed, an old friend of James, who begins a subtle romantic pursuit of Margaret. As the wedding approaches, Ian struggles to write his own vows, while Miranda receives a package of old family photos from Charles that prove his identity. Miranda discovers that Charles is a pastor who had a falling out with her mother decades ago; he had judged her for her relationship with James because James was still in the process of a divorce at the time. Charles expresses deep remorse for his arrogance and for failing to answer Eve's calls for help when she was a struggling single mother. Miranda forgives him and invites him to the wedding. Margaret eventually realizes she has been overstepping and agrees to hold the wedding at the cottage as Miranda wished. On Christmas Day, amidst a beautiful snowfall, Miranda and Ian exchange heartfelt vows in front of their combined families, including Uncle Charles. The film ends with the couple departing in a horse-drawn carriage, celebrating their new life together.
