    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The 'Superpower Test' used to determine if a man is trustworthy (Flying vs. Invisibility).
    • The specific legal split of the inheritance where one person owns the 'carriage house' and the other owns the 'building proper' within the same lot.
    • The protagonist's extreme reaction to the 'Invisibility' superpower choice as a sign of being 'fundamentally sneaky'.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Natalie Morgan, a talented baker who runs a cupcake truck called 'Sweet Treats' in the city. She is cynical about romance after being burned by her ex-boyfriend, celebrity baker David Howe, who she believes stole her recipes for his success. Meanwhile, Eric Schneider is a high-level finance manager and single father to his daughter, Lily. Eric's life is upended when his firm undergoes downsizing, leaving him unemployed just as he learns he has inherited a property from his late Aunt Bea. At the lawyer's office, Natalie and Eric discover that Bea left the main bakery building to Eric and the attached carriage house to Natalie. Eric initially wants to sell the property for a quick profit, but their realtor, Courtney, informs them that the building is a designated historic site, making it nearly impossible to sell to developers. Natalie, who dreams of a brick-and-mortar shop but lacks the funds, convinces a reluctant Eric to go into business together. Their partnership is tested by Eric's rigid budgeting and Natalie's artistic vision. A turning point occurs when Natalie helps Eric bake 'Chocolate Manchesters' for Lily's school bake sale, which becomes a massive success. As they renovate the shop themselves to save money, they discover Aunt Bea’s handwritten recipe scrapbook, which Eric used to think was 'magic' as a child. The romantic tension builds, but Natalie remains hesitant to trust Eric, especially after a run-in with her ex, David Howe. The conflict peaks when Courtney, seeking a commission, presents Eric with a secret offer to sell the building, leading Natalie to believe Eric is betraying their partnership. This misunderstanding is compounded by a disaster the night before the grand opening: a sprinkler system malfunction floods the kitchen. Despite the setback and their argument, Eric proves his commitment by staying all night to help Natalie clean and bake. In the end, they successfully open 'Delitto’s Bakery' to a massive crowd. Natalie realizes Eric is trustworthy, and Eric reveals he has turned down the sale offer to stay in the bakery business with her. The film concludes with them embracing their new life as partners in both business and love.
