    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A five-year-old child creates a formal 'Mission: Find a Friend' book and successfully recruits a random elderly man from the cereal aisle.
    • The heavy narrative focus on oatmeal as a bonding tool between a child and a senior citizen.
    • The protagonist is a hospital COO who refuses to deliver her own sister's baby due to 'boundaries' until the very last minute.

    Full story (spoilers)
Lizzie Beauman is the COO of Saint Carmen’s Hospital in Savannah, a former OB-GYN who transitioned to administration to provide a stable life for her diabetic five-year-old daughter, Quinn. Lizzie maintains strict boundaries between her professional and personal life, a rule challenged when she meets Charley Allen, a former military pilot applying for an EMS position. Charley is a 'cowboy' who prefers instinct over routine, immediately putting him at odds with Lizzie’s disciplined nature. Meanwhile, Quinn encounters Charley’s father, Walter, in a grocery store. Walter is a widower who has stopped playing the piano and withdrawn from life since his wife's death. Quinn, who is on a self-assigned 'Mission: Find a Friend,' charms Walter, leading to tea parties and croquet matches that force Lizzie and Charley to interact outside the hospital. Lizzie is focused on securing a prestigious medical grant by recruiting Dr. Stadler to perform a groundbreaking transplant procedure at Saint Carmen’s. Charley, hired on a two-week probation, attempts to soften Lizzie’s exterior, even taking her on a helicopter ride to help her confront her fear of heights. As they grow closer, Charley struggles with his own past, specifically the guilt of being deployed when his mother passed away. The emotional stakes culminate around a Mother's Day piano recital; Quinn’s grandmother (Nana) breaks her wrist, leaving Quinn without a partner for her duet. Charley convinces a reluctant Walter to step in, marking Walter's first time playing since his wife's funeral. On the day of Dr. Stadler’s surgery, a severe storm rolls in. Charley is sent to retrieve a donor kidney, but the weather makes a landing on the hospital’s rooftop pad extremely dangerous. Lizzie orders Charley to land at a remote hangar for safety, which would delay the organ and jeopardize the surgery's success. Charley defies her direct order, successfully landing on the hospital pad and saving the procedure. Despite the positive outcome, Lizzie fires him for his insubordination and recklessness. However, after delivering her sister Barb’s baby and witnessing the joy Walter and Quinn share at the recital, Lizzie realizes her rigid rules were merely a shield against the fear of abandonment. She rushes to the airfield just as Charley is preparing to leave for a job in Alaska. She confesses her feelings using Quinn's 'butterflies' metaphor and asks him to stay, finally integrating her personal and professional worlds.
