    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The film features a visceral flashback to a fatal car crash accompanied by a loud horn blast during a piano lesson.
    • A group of 30-somethings performing their exact high school musical roles 15 years later.
    • The protagonist's daughter is named Molly, and her former student Karen's daughter is also named Molly, which is slightly confusing.
    • A teenager asking for a shot of tequila in a Hallmark movie.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Alyson Daley, a music teacher at Northside High, coaching a student named Molly. Alyson is a widow who lost her husband and young daughter, Jenny, in a tragic car accident years ago—a trauma that caused her to stop singing entirely. When the school board decides to cut her after-school music program to save money, Alyson is devastated. Her former students from 15 years ago, led by Zack Hall and Karen Davis, decide to intervene. They organize a reunion dinner and eventually hatch a plan to stage a fundraiser: a revival of the original musical they performed in high school. The group includes Steve, a local politician; Sheila; and Dee Dee, who claims to be a successful Broadway actress. Tensions arise when Jace Galler, a famous TV star and former classmate, returns to town and joins the production, displacing Zack as the lead and creating a romantic rivalry for Dee Dee's affections. As rehearsals progress, personal secrets emerge. Zack is facing bankruptcy and nearly steals the fundraiser money before confessing his desperation to Jace. Dee Dee eventually admits to Alyson that she hasn't worked as an actress in three years and has been waiting tables in Chicago. Meanwhile, Alyson struggles to open her heart to her friend Ray, fearing that moving on would betray her past. The production faces a hurdle when Molly, Karen's daughter, develops 'mom-fright' and refuses to perform a duet with her mother. However, Alyson uses her teaching skills to help Molly overcome her fear. On opening night, the show is a massive success, selling out the auditorium and raising the necessary funds. The performance helps the former students find closure with their pasts. In the final scene, Alyson finally sits at the piano and sings 'Believe in Yourself,' symbolizing her emotional healing and the restoration of her spirit.
