The Nine Kittens of Christmas

The film opens with Zachary Stone, a dedicated fire captain, preparing for his annual solo ski trip while his cat Ambrose looks on. Meanwhile, Marilee White, a successful veterinarian in Miami, returns to Oregon to spend Christmas with her sister Jaclyn and niece Sierra. Marilee is currently in a relationship and business partnership with Miles, a workaholic vet who stays behind in Miami to finish end-of-year accounting. The plot kicks off when Zachary discovers a box of nine abandoned kittens at the fire station. Lacking the expertise to care for them, he enlists Marilee's help. They name the kittens after Santa's reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph. Throughout the week, Marilee and Zachary organize various community events to find adopters, including a 'cat cafe' at a local bookstore and a kitten-themed gift-wrapping event. During these activities, the tension between Marilee's high-stress Miami career and her love for her hometown becomes evident. A secondary plot involves Fire Chief Sam's impending retirement; he wants Zachary to succeed him, but Zachary is resistant to the change and the added responsibility. The sisters also discover an old advent calendar made by their late mother, which contains charms from her bracelet, adding an emotional layer of family legacy. The conflict peaks when Miles unexpectedly arrives in Oregon to 'save' the relationship, just as Zachary was about to confess his feelings. Seeing Miles and Marilee together, a heartbroken Zachary retreats. However, Marilee realizes that her life with Miles is defined by work rather than love and breaks up with him, choosing to stay in Oregon. In the climax, Zachary uses a restored vintage fire truck—a retirement gift for Sam—as a mobile billboard to find a home for the final kitten, Rudolph. He ultimately proposes to Marilee, suggesting they adopt Rudolph together as a 'bonded pair.' The film ends with Marilee deciding to open her own local practice and the couple celebrating their reunion.
