    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a flashback to Afghanistan, where Lt. Randilynn Amidon, a medic, assists a local woman in labor, establishing her character as a hero. In the present, the 'POstables'—Oliver, Shane, Rita, and Norman—travel from Denver to Washington, D.C. The primary reason for the trip is Rita's participation in the 'Miss Special Delivery' pageant, though Oliver is also dealing with the emotional weight of a recent inheritance and Shane is mourning the demolition of her childhood home. While at their hotel, they encounter Phoebe Amidon and her grandfather, Harper, who are in D.C. seeking answers about Randilynn, who has been missing for 22 months. Shane reaches out to an old flame, Steve Marek, an intelligence agent, who reveals the existence of a letter from Afghanistan addressed to 'Feeb' (Phoebe) that the military has dismissed as gibberish. Rita uses her photographic memory to recall the letter's contents after a brief glimpse, and the team begins to decode it. They realize the 'gibberish' is actually a sophisticated code based on Amidon family jokes, the birthday of their dog 'Liberty,' and specific biblical verses from Psalms and Proverbs. The team is eventually summoned to a closed-door emergency session of a Senate committee. Oliver and Norman argue that the letter is a roadmap for an escape plan timed to the end of Ramadan. The turning point occurs when Oliver correctly identifies the final obscured clue, 'Grim Feet,' as 'Pilgrim Feet' from the song 'America the Beautiful,' which Randilynn used as a lullaby. This proves her intent to reach a specific 'High Tower' for rescue. Parallel to this, Rita is disqualified from the pageant because Norman successfully got her novel published, making her a 'professional,' but she gracefully pivots to help her friend Mindy win. The rescue mission is authorized and successful, leading to an emotional reunion between Randilynn and Phoebe at the airport. The film concludes with Oliver revealing he has purchased the lot of Shane's former home to build a foundation and a new house, symbolizing a future for their group.
