    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist diagnoses the love interest's stress by naming specific facial muscles like the 'labii inferioris' while sitting in a truck.
    • A rare 'pyro switch' is the specific car part that keeps the plot moving.
    • A major plot point involves an 'Artemis' sci-fi action figure being a high-value auction item in a rural Tennessee roadhouse.

    Full story (spoilers)
Callie Jackson returns home from a two-year Army deployment to Lockhart, Tennessee, only to find that her family's business, Tucker's Roadhouse, has lost its soul following the death of her grandfather, country legend John Wakefield Tucker. The famous BBQ sauce is now store-bought because the recipe was never written down, and the roadhouse is facing financial ruin. Meanwhile, TV director Luke Ellis and his agent Dan are traveling through the area when they are involved in a minor fender-bender with Callie in the roadhouse parking lot. A broken 'pyro switch' in their classic car strands them in town for several days. As Luke waits for car parts, he and Callie develop a connection. Callie, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, diagnoses Luke's stress through his posture, while Luke, a cynical Hollywood director, is introduced to the 'three chords and the truth' philosophy of country music. Callie is also forced to confront her past when she discovers her high school sweetheart, Joe, has moved on with another woman. Luke is facing his own dilemma: his celebrity girlfriend, Jillian, is pressuring him to direct a vapid feature film called 'Island Girl' that he doesn't believe in. Callie spends her nights unsuccessfully trying to recreate her grandfather's sauce, eventually leading to a kitchen fire where Luke helps her realize that 'trouble is transportation' to a better place. Inspired by Luke's observation about her sentimental nature, Callie finds the lost recipe hidden in a shoebox under her bed. However, the roadhouse's Fall Festival is still at risk due to poor ticket sales. To save the business, Luke strikes a deal with Jillian: he will agree to direct her movie without any script changes if she uses her massive social media following to promote the festival. The plan works, and the festival sells out instantly, but Luke must leave for Nashville to fulfill his end of the bargain. At the festival, Callie performs a moving tribute to her grandfather, realizing she is ready to let go of her 'baggage' and embrace the future. Just as she thinks Luke is gone for good, he reappears at the roadhouse. He reveals that he turned down the 'Island Girl' deal, choosing to 'risk it to get the biscuit' by prioritizing his artistic integrity and his feelings for Callie. The film concludes with the pair dancing the Cowboy Cha Cha and sharing a kiss, as Luke decides to stay in Lockhart.
