Three Wise Men and a Baby

The film begins by introducing the three Brenner brothers: Luke, a stoic firefighter; Taylor, a brilliant but arrogant video game designer; and Stephan, a socially anxious pet therapist. Their mother, Barbara, wishes for a traditional family Christmas, but the brothers are distant and prone to bickering. The plot is set in motion when a baby named Thomas is left at Luke's fire station with a note specifically naming him. While Luke is certain he isn't the father, the brothers are forced to take the baby home. Barbara initially helps, but she is suddenly called away to care for her sister after a fall, leaving the three unprepared men in charge of the infant. The middle of the film focuses on the comedic and heartwarming struggles of the brothers as they navigate childcare, including a disastrous trip to the grocery store that results in Taylor being banned and a heated debate over the 'sterilization' of baby bottles. To make Christmas special for their mother, they decide to enter a local house-decorating competition to win her a cruise, pitting them against their high school rival, Mark LaClark. During this time, Taylor attempts to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend Fiona, and Stephan develops a quirky romance with Susie, a local seamstress. The tension peaks when Luke reveals the deep-seated resentment he feels for having to be the 'responsible' one ever since their father abandoned the family. A health scare with the baby—which turns out to be just a new tooth—brings the brothers back together. They perform a choreographed 'Three Wise Men' nativity dance for the decorating contest, which, while losing the official prize to Mark, succeeds in reuniting the family. On Christmas morning, the baby's mother, Sophie, arrives; she reveals she was a woman Luke helped during a difficult labor and she left the baby in a moment of desperate panic. The film concludes with the brothers gifting their mother a framed photo of the three of them together, symbolizing their healed bond, and each brother finding a new sense of purpose and romantic connection.
