To All a Good Night

The film begins in Harmony Bay, where photographer Ceci Carmichael is teaching a class and dealing with a local mystery: a serial thief is stealing items from around town. With the help of her friend Penny, she tracks the 'thief' to a shed, only to discover it is Max, a local dog with a kleptomania habit. Meanwhile, Sam Calloway, a VP of Acquisitions for his father’s development firm, crashes his motorcycle on a slick road near Ceci’s family property, Willow Glen. Ceci finds him and, following first aid protocols, keeps him talking while he is trapped in his helmet. In a moment of delirium and shock, Sam asks her to marry him, and Ceci jokingly agrees to marry him on Christmas Day just to keep him conscious. She leaves him at the hospital with a 'Sally’s Christmas Burger' but remains anonymous. As Sam recovers, he becomes obsessed with finding the woman with the elephant necklace who saved him. Ceci, however, is wary of Sam after learning his identity as a developer. She fears he is in league with her stepmother, Vivian, to sell Willow Glen, the site of the town's beloved 'To All a Good Night' Christmas Eve event, which Ceci has canceled due to her grief over her father’s recent death. Despite her suspicions, Ceci and Sam begin spending time together as he helps her with community photography projects. Sam reveals he is actually working on a passion project—a communal living development—that his cold father, Otto, would never approve of. The tension peaks when Ceci discovers Sam has been keeping a secret: he knew her father. Sam reveals that Ceci’s father was a veteran who wrote letters to other soldiers struggling with civilian life. Sam was a recipient of these letters, and the final one he received asked him to go to Harmony Bay to look after Ceci during her first Christmas without him. This revelation softens Ceci’s heart, especially when Vivian reveals she isn't selling the land to developers but is actually gifting her half of Willow Glen to Ceci for one dollar. In the climax, Sam stands up to his father, Otto, advocating for his cousin Ella to take a leadership role in the company so he can stay in Harmony Bay. The film concludes with Ceci reinstating the 'To All a Good Night' event, where the town gathers to celebrate, and she and Sam finally share their first kiss under the Christmas lights.
