    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's memory is restored specifically by an allergic reaction to pecan brownies.
    • The doctor changes his Wi-Fi password daily as a way to force his children to do chores.
    • The protagonist has an oddly specific, expert-level knowledge of 1930s Sullivan Model D canoes despite having amnesia.
    • The 'Time Visitor' movie dialogue is intentionally cheesy sci-fi tropes.

Why we’d put this one on

A gentle amnesia romance that leans into its own premise with a wink. Julie Gonzalo plays Angela, a best-selling author overwhelmed by fame, who flees Boston, crashes her car in Vermont, and is taken in by a kind local doctor, played by Benjamin Ayres, and his two kids. As she helps the family prep for the town's Fall Fest, she starts rediscovering who she is. The cozy autumn setting is lovely. The weird flourishes are great too: the doctor changes his Wi-Fi password daily to make his kids do chores, and Angela has oddly expert knowledge of 1930s canoes despite remembering almost nothing else. Sweet, leafy, and easy to love.

    Full story (spoilers)
Angela Young is a best-selling author whose 'Time Visitor' book series has just been adapted into a major motion picture. Her life is a whirlwind of interviews and appearances managed by her boyfriend, Brad, who prioritizes business over her well-being. Feeling suffocated by the pressure and Brad's lack of awareness regarding her needs—including his ignorance of her severe nut allergy—Angela impulsively skips a TV interview and drives into the Vermont countryside. A sudden storm causes her to crash her car, and she is found wandering the road with no memory of her identity. Dr. Jeff Callan, the town's only physician and a widowed father of two, treats her at his clinic. With no ID or phone, the town dubs her 'Elizabeth,' and Jeff offers her his guest house while she recovers. During her stay, Elizabeth bonds with Jeff’s children, Emily and Alex. She helps Emily, an aspiring writer, overcome writer's block for a play she is staging for the town's Fall Fest, and she assists Alex in restoring an old family canoe. As Elizabeth integrates into the small-town life of Hopedale, she and Jeff develop a romantic connection, though Jeff struggles with his professional ethics as her doctor. Meanwhile, back in Boston, Brad and Angela's sister, Cynthia, realize she is missing and begin a search. Elizabeth's memory begins to return in fragments, triggered by seeing her own books in a local shop. The full restoration of her memory occurs abruptly after she suffers an allergic reaction to pecan brownies at a rehearsal. Just as she is about to explain her identity to Jeff, Brad and Cynthia arrive in Hopedale, publicly revealing her as the famous Angela Young. Angela returns to Boston to fulfill her obligations, but she quickly realizes that her high-profile life and relationship with Brad no longer fulfill her. She breaks up with Brad, acknowledging they have a business relationship rather than a romantic one. In the final scene, Angela returns to Hopedale, surprising Jeff and the kids at the diner. She presents them with her new book, 'Journey Girl,' dedicated to the family that helped her find her true self, and she and Jeff commit to a future together.
