    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist is the literal 'villain' of the love interest's backstory
    • Amnesia is treated as a convenient 3-7 day 'brain reset' by a local doctor
    • The 'Ice Wine Room' is a temporary structure made of actual ice blocks that will eventually melt
    • The protagonist wears high-heeled 'leather torture chambers' to a snowy vineyard

Why we’d put this one on

Weirdness 8 and a sharp amnesia premise. Nazneen Contractor plays a feared food-and-wine critic who, by sheer bad luck, ends up at the very winery she nearly destroyed with a review, then slips on the ice and loses her memory, so the family takes her in knowing her only as "Joy." Brennan Elliott is the single-dad owner, Michael. The setup is the fun: she is literally the villain of his backstory, the local doctor treats amnesia as a tidy few-day "brain reset," and there is an "Ice Wine Room" built from actual melting ice blocks. It is a clever, snowy second-chance romance. A satisfying watch for trope lovers.

    Full story (spoilers)
Christina Joy Osborne is a sharp-tongued critic whose reviews can make or break a business. Her editor sends her to a winter wine festival in upstate New York to review new vintages, specifically hoping she'll find something to 'buzz' about. Christina plans to go with her career-focused boyfriend, Kevin, but he cancels at the last minute. Upon arriving via a vintage train, Christina gets off at the wrong stop and ends up at Hollingbrook Winery. While attempting to leave, she slips on a patch of ice, hits her head, and loses her purse and phone. She is found by Michael Hollingbrook and his daughter, Britney, who take her to a doctor. The diagnosis is retrograde amnesia, and with no ID, she goes by her middle name, 'Joy.' Michael and his father, John, are struggling to keep the winery afloat after a devastating review by 'C.J. Osborne' regarding a batch of corked merlot. Michael is pinning his hopes on a risky 'ice wine'—wine made from grapes frozen on the vine—while his father wants to stick to traditional methods. As 'Joy' stays with the family, she discovers a natural talent for baking and marketing, helping Michael refine his ice wine and bonding deeply with Britney. She encourages Michael to follow his passion despite his father's fears. However, during a trip to town, she encounters a rival critic, Eleanor Parks, which triggers her memory. Christina realizes she is the 'villain' who ruined the Hollingbrooks' reputation. Terrified of losing her new 'family,' Christina keeps her identity secret while using her professional knowledge to help the winery prepare for a high-stakes barrel-tapping party. She secretly calls her editor and rival to ensure the event gets the right coverage. The conflict peaks when Kevin arrives at the winery to find her, inadvertently revealing to Michael that 'Joy' is actually C.J. Osborne. Michael feels betrayed, believing she was undercover to write another hit piece. Christina leaves the winery in disgrace but decides to make things right. She organizes a spectacular presentation for the ice wine at the festival and convinces Eleanor Parks to attend. The ice wine is a massive success, and Christina writes a final, glowing review that restores the winery's prestige before retiring from criticism to become a consultant. Michael realizes her change of heart was genuine, and the two reconcile at the festival.
