There is a head elf named Nigel Thumb who throws hands with a security guard, reindeer stashed in a backyard for a full day, and a magic flying word that turns out to be Mrs. Claus's name. Jennifer Beals plays the mom. Rated 5.6. An amnesiac Santa is precisely as chaotic as that sentence promises, and I mean that as praise.

A British marquis (Simon Kassianides) is mugged in San Francisco, loses his memory, and is found by an 11-year-old who is convinced her kiss turned a frog into a man. Weirdness 9. She talks her widowed mother (Kellie Martin) into hiring the muddy "prince" as a live-in nanny, and the whole thing is framed as a storybook mirroring its own actors. A young Kiernan Shipka is in the mix. Rated 5.8. It is a Frog Prince retelling powered by amnesia, which is exactly as charmingly odd as it should be.

Nazneen Contractor's feared food and wine critic slips on the ice and loses her memory at the very winery she once nearly sank with a brutal review, where the family now knows her only as "Joy." Weirdness 8. The amnesia is waved off as a tidy three-to-seven-day brain reset, there is an "Ice Wine Room" built from actual blocks of ice that will eventually melt, and she tackles a snowy vineyard in heels. Brennan Elliott plays the owner. Rated 6.5. The villain of someone's backstory waking up as the heroine is a great setup, and the film knows it.

Mira Sorvino's high-strung New York lifestyle mogul gets amnesia after a crash in a Colorado blizzard, takes the name "Maggie," and helps a widowed vet's kids rediscover Christmas. Weirdness 7. Her first meeting with the love interest involves sitting on a pie while concussed, a "baloney omelette" is floated as a breakfast innovation, and our lifestyle guru somehow despises the color green at Christmas. Cameron Mathison co-stars. Rated 6.5 across more than 3,000 votes. A cozy identity swap carried by its weird little details.

Alexis Bledel's lonely waitress falls for a charming jewelry-store clerk (Zachary Levi) whose short-term memory resets every single morning after a brain aneurysm. Weirdness 6. It is the 50 First Dates idea played as earnest drama, with Gus recording every conversation so he can "meet" her again, plus a side plot about dark energy and the fate of the universe. Rated 6.9 across more than 12,000 votes, easily the most-voted title here. If you watch one on this list for the feelings rather than the laughs, make it this. It genuinely asks whether love can outlast memory.

Ali Liebert's bookish clerk crashes her bicycle into a handsome stranger (Peter Porte), wipes his memory, and then sets out to work out who he is, minding his dog along the way. Weirdness 6. She racks up several counts of breaking and entering in the name of "helping," her friend tries on his cashmere sweaters mid-snoop, and the rival bookstore is named "Books, Books, Books." Rated 6.6 across more than 2,600 votes. A meet-cute that is, technically, a vehicular accident, and the movie is delightfully unbothered by that.

Julie Gonzalo's overwhelmed bestselling author flees her controlling manager-boyfriend, crashes in Vermont, and loses her memory, finding refuge with a kind local doctor (Benjamin Ayres) and his kids. Weirdness 6. Her recall is eventually jogged by an allergic reaction to pecan brownies, the doctor resets his Wi-Fi password daily to force the kids into chores, and she has weirdly expert knowledge of 1930s canoes despite remembering nothing else. Rated 6.9 across more than 2,300 votes. A forget-and-find-yourself romance with the fall foliage doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Ashley Greene's Lucy wakes clutching a wedding dress, certain she is late to marry her ex, with no memory of the last two years, including the fact that she is engaged to someone else entirely. Weirdness 6. She is found and "diagnosed" by a man dressed as Santa in the middle of the street, and the amnesia conveniently swallows the breakup conversation that would explain everything. Andrew W. Walker co-stars. Rated 6.5 across nearly 2,000 votes. A which-life-do-I-actually-want romance with a tidy memory gap doing the plotting.

Kimberley Sustad inherits a struggling academy that trains people to be Santas and, with a rival trainer (Benjamin Ayres), hides an amnesiac man who appears to be the actual Santa Claus while prepping a crew for a competition. Weirdness 6. There is a whole school for Santas, a sleigh that lifts off into the forest canopy, and a puppet briefly treated as a possible trainee. No rating logged yet. An amnesiac Santa hiding out at Santa school is about as peak-Hallmark as a premise gets, and it leans all the way in.

Jessy Schram plays a woman with amnesia, known only as "Jane," road-tripping from Maine to South Carolina with a kind nurse (Brendan Penny) to chase the single clue to her identity: a Christmas invitation from a mysterious man named Mark. Weirdness 4. She spends much of it terrified she is a deadbeat mom based on a monogrammed suitcase, and her amnesia is framed as a rare type that erases identity but leaves her able to write stories. Rated 7.2 across more than 2,000 votes, the highest score here. A road-trip mystery with real warmth under the gimmick.
