Kevin Connor worked behind the camera, not in front of it, and across 20 films from 2002 to 2017 he became a director the network kept calling back. His sweet spot was the mystery. The McBride run is where he did his sharpest work, with McBride: The Chameleon Murder from 2005 sitting at the top of his list at 7.0, and two more McBride titles right behind it at 6.8 and 6.7. He leaned toward the big city rather than the small town, setting ten of his films against an urban backdrop instead of the usual snowy main street.
