Winter Castle

The film opens with Jenny, a talented editor who dreams of publishing her own children's stories, receiving another rejection from her boss, Carrie. Her spirits are lifted when her sister Meg and fiancé Tony announce they are getting married in just four weeks at a famous Ice Hotel. Upon arrival at the frozen resort, Jenny meets Craig, the best man, and his young daughter, Sara. The chemistry between Jenny and Craig is instant, but it is quickly dampened when Lana, a friend of Craig’s late wife, arrives as his guest. While Jenny tries to maintain a professional distance to respect Craig's apparent relationship, she repeatedly ends up spending time with him and Sara, bonding over snowshoeing, ice slides, and the 'Snowball the Polar Bear' stories she invents for the little girl. Meanwhile, a minor crisis occurs when Meg loses her bridal veil, prompting Jenny and Sara to collaborate on a handmade replacement using beads and tulle. As the week progresses, Lana struggles with the freezing temperatures and realizes she is an outsider to the natural rhythm shared by Craig, Sara, and Jenny. A professional breakthrough occurs for Jenny when her boss calls to say her 'Ice Castle' story will be published. On the eve of the wedding, Lana confronts Craig about their future; realizing his heart isn't in it, she gracefully decides to leave the hotel early. After a brief moment of confusion where Craig and Jenny almost miss their chance to connect due to misunderstandings about Lana, they finally share their feelings during the wedding reception. The film concludes with the couple dancing, having realized their 'shooting star' wishes for happiness and new adventures—possibly in New Zealand—have come true.
