    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The 'MAP' system (Meaning, Abundance, Peace) is treated with the gravity of a religious movement.
    • A modern art sculpture is described as an 'octopus crawling through a Windsor knot.'
    • The movie acknowledges internet 'shipping' culture when Emerson tells Bethany she is 'trending' and people want her to 'just kiss already.'

    Full story (spoilers)
Bethany Cain is a perfectionist interior designer who has developed the 'MAP' system (Meaning, Abundance, and Peace) and is promoting her new book, 'To the Neat of Your Own Drum.' To gain national exposure in 'Beautiful Homes' magazine, she launches a 'New Year, New Home' makeover contest. Meanwhile, Grant Oliver, a widower and activities director at a mountain lodge, is struggling to balance his career with raising his 13-year-old daughter, Zoe. Zoe, feeling their home is stuck in the past, secretly enters Grant into the contest. Bethany is moved by Zoe's letter and selects the Olivers, but Grant is initially hostile to the idea of a stranger changing the home he shared with his late wife, Rebecca. The tension is high as Bethany and her assistant Emerson begin the three-week renovation, with Grant resisting even minor changes like new throw pillows. However, a turning point occurs when Bethany suggests a compromise to honor a sentimental chipped bowl belonging to Rebecca by building a special display shelf for it. As the renovation progresses, Grant and Bethany begin to bond; he takes her on a winter outing involving snowshoeing and stargazing, where they nearly kiss. The progress is threatened when Zoe accidentally breaks the sentimental bowl during a cooking session. Grant, overwhelmed by grief and the loss of the physical connection to his wife, reacts harshly, causing Bethany to leave. Zoe eventually confesses that the accident wasn't Bethany's fault and encourages her father to stop 'hiding behind her' to avoid moving on. Realizing he is in love, Grant makes a grand gesture by appearing on Bethany's follow-up segment on the 'Hello Today' talk show. He publicly apologizes and invites her to a pancake dinner. The film concludes with Bethany visiting the finished house, where she and Grant embrace, ready to start a new chapter together.
