    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The recurring motif of a 'reindeer' that Ben keeps seeing, which is treated with semi-mystical importance.
    • Stethoscope-shaped pancakes.
    • A snowman doing a handstand as a specific family tradition.
    • The 'triple-h gene' (Ho, Ho, Ho gene).

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Peyton Canaday taking over the planning of the Canaday Inn’s 25th-anniversary Christmas party, a task usually handled by her parents. While she is a skilled accountant, she feels immense pressure to prove she can be an event planner. Meanwhile, Dr. Ben Tyler has returned to Birch Creek but is planning to leave for a three-year medical contract in Honduras. The two have a complicated history; ten years prior, Peyton confessed her feelings for Ben, and he left for California the next day. Their paths cross when their mutual friend, Ford Sherman, falls off a ladder and requires emergency surgery. With Ford’s sister away, Peyton and Ben agree to co-parent Ford’s daughter, Lily, for a few days. Lily presents them with a list of 'Sherman family traditions' that they must complete, including making reindeer food with edible glitter, baking cookies for teachers, and hanging specific snowflake lights. As they work through the list, the romantic tension between Peyton and Ben resurfaces. Peyton struggles to find a theme for the big party, especially with a local reporter, Miles, pressuring her for a scoop. Ben eventually reveals that his trip to Honduras isn't a vacation but a long-term career move, which saddens Peyton. However, a conversation with a former teacher about the very first party at the Inn—which was a spontaneous 'Winter Wonderland' created during a snowstorm—gives Peyton her theme. She transforms the ballroom into a magical snowy landscape. The party is a massive success, and Peyton is even approached by a guest to plan a silver anniversary event. In the climax, Ben prepares to leave for the airport with his father, but a symbolic 'reindeer' sighting and a heart-to-heart with his dad make him realize he wants a home and family more than a nomadic career. He returns to the Inn, confesses his love to Peyton, and announces he will stay in Birch Creek to practice medicine, ending the film with a traditional romantic resolution.
