    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The extreme coincidence of the protagonist meeting the exact man her dead husband saved on a random train ride.
    • The plot revolves around a highly specific 'Bicentennial watch' of which only 30 exist.
    • The love interest is literally replacing the dead husband in the town's Christmas band.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a flashback to Katherine (Kat) and her husband Tyler dancing in their bakery, sharing a moment of pure happiness before his untimely death. Two years later, Kat is living in Boston and working at a bank, struggling to move past her grief. Though she initially plans to stay in the city for Christmas, she realizes her son Will is unhappy and decides to return to her parents' home in Provincetown. On the train ride, she meets Jack, a veteran traveling to the same town. They share a connection over music and a signature holiday cookie, though Kat remains guarded about her past. In Provincetown, Kat's mother, Jane, reveals she is considering selling the family bakery because the work has become too physically demanding. Kat also learns that Jack is in town to fill in as a guitarist for the 'Snowball' charity dance—the very band her husband Tyler used to lead. Jack is also on a personal mission: he possesses a limited-edition Provincetown Bicentennial watch that belonged to a medic who saved his life during a tour in the Army. He never learned the man's name and has come to town to find him and return the watch. As the week progresses, Jack and Kat spend significant time together. Jack helps Will with a snow fort and teaches Kat how to skate, while Kat teaches Jack how to bake the family's secret peppermint chocolate croissants. Their romance blossoms, but Kat is hesitant to move on from Tyler. Meanwhile, Jack uses local archives and hardware store records to track down the owners of the thirty Bicentennial watches produced. The emotional climax occurs during a family Christmas party. Jack sees a photograph of Tyler and realizes with a shock that Tyler was the man who saved him. He shows Kat the watch, and she confirms it was a gift she gave Tyler before his deployment. While the realization that his savior is dead is painful for Jack, Kat views the encounter as a 'Christmas miracle' that provides her with the closure she needs. Kat decides to quit her job in Boston and take over the family bakery, ensuring the family legacy continues. The film concludes at the Snowball dance, where Kat and Jack share a romantic dance, acknowledging that Tyler brought them together.
