    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The family smoker is named 'Staubach' after Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach and is treated like a main character.
    • The celebrity BBQ mogul's manager is a vegetarian who 'eats a lot of ribs' for appearances.
    • The high-stakes climax involves two people cooking brisket for 12 hours straight in a loft.

    Full story (spoilers)
Tyler Dawson, a divorced sous chef, returns to Red Rock, Texas, with her daughter Rosie after the San Francisco restaurant she worked at closes down. She finds her mother Jo's restaurant, 'Jo and Ray's,' struggling due to aging equipment and new competition. Tyler's high school sweetheart, Corey Turner, has become a famous 'BBQ mogul' and returns to town as the celebrity face of the annual Red Rock Barbecue Cook-Off. To help her mother, Tyler enters the competition, hoping to win the $25,000 prize to fix the restaurant's iconic but failing smoker, nicknamed 'Staubach.' Throughout the week-long festival, Tyler and Corey rekindle their romance while navigating the awkwardness of being direct competitors. Tyler advances through the rounds, cooking chicken and ribs, while Corey balances his feelings for Tyler with pressure from his manager, Sofia, to return to New York for a career-defining television deal. The conflict intensifies when Tyler's ex-husband, Eddie, arrives and offers her a head chef position at a new restaurant in San Francisco. Just before the final round, a fire breaks out at Jo's restaurant, destroying 'Staubach' and leaving Tyler without a way to compete. In a display of sportsmanship and love, Corey offers Tyler his kitchen and smoker so they can cook their final brisket entries side-by-side overnight. Tyler ultimately wins the competition with a recipe that blends her father's traditions with her own culinary flair. Realizing that her happiness lies in her hometown, Tyler turns down the San Francisco job. Corey, inspired by Tyler's conviction, turns down his TV show to stay in Red Rock, and the two begin a new life together running the family restaurant.
