    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist is a horror novelist who writes about 'Vampire Rising' and 'Dmitri's final demise', which is unusually dark for Hallmark.
    • The grandfather's intense hatred for 'Oakwood dribble' (senior radio) and his transition into a cool DJ.
    • The shop is literally named 'Pumpkin Everything' and appears to sell nothing that isn't pumpkin-related.

    Full story (spoilers)
Amy Fox is a rising star in the literary world, currently promoting her third vampire novel, 'Vampire Rising.' Her career is interrupted when her mother, Lillian, calls with news that her grandfather, Tom, has crashed his truck into a local coffee shop. Amy returns to Autumnboro, Vermont, during the annual Foliage Fest to find Tom as stubborn as ever. Their relationship is strained because Tom withdrew his support for her college education years ago when she chose writing over business school, hoping she would take over his shop, 'Pumpkin Everything.' At the shop, Amy reconnects with Kit Parker, her high school best friend whom she 'ghosted' fifteen years prior following the death of his mother. Kit has since overcome a struggle with alcohol and has been the primary help for Tom at the store. As Amy tries to help Tom manage his life, she faces constant resistance. She attempts to hire professional cleaners and suggests he move to Oakwood, a retirement village, but Tom views these as threats to his independence. Meanwhile, Amy and Kit's romance rekindles as they participate in town traditions like the scarecrow-building contest. Amy's career takes a massive leap when she films a promotional video for her book inside 'Pumpkin Everything,' which goes viral and lands her an interview on the national morning show 'Hey, Good Day.' The tension reaches a breaking point when Tom, refusing to admit his physical limitations, falls from a ladder while trying to change a lightbulb. He is hospitalized with fractured ribs, forcing a reality check for the whole family. Tom eventually admits that he has read Amy's books and is proud of her, realizing that her stories about family are more similar to his values than he thought. In the resolution, Tom decides to move to Oakwood on his own terms to become a resident DJ, a passion he rediscovered during the film. He sells 'Pumpkin Everything' to Kit, using the profits from a new online ordering system Kit and Amy implemented to fund the transition. Amy decides to pursue a relationship with Kit, realizing she can balance her career with her roots in Autumnboro.
