    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A mummified body found inside a residential wall
    • A serial killer subplot that serves entirely as a red herring for an IT guy's romantic obsession
    • The use of Carl Jung's synchronicity theory to solve multiple unrelated crimes
    • The protagonist's father is a famous mystery writer who is a fan of the detective's new partner

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Detective Travis Burke in Chicago testifying against Jeffrey 'The Wolfman' Lewandowski, a serial killer who murdered victims during full moons. While there, he encounters his ex-wife, FBI Agent Kate Coulson. Back in Garrison, Professor Amy Winslow teaches her students about Carl Jung’s theory of synchronicity—meaningful coincidences. The plot intensifies when The Wolfman escapes custody, leaving a threatening message for Travis. Travis returns to Garrison, but as he meets Amy, a massive explosion rocks a nearby house owned by the Goffs. Travis is concussed but survives. During the fire investigation, Amy discovers a mummified body hidden behind a double-layered drywall in the Goff home. Agent Kate Coulson arrives in Garrison, convinced The Wolfman is targeting Travis, and she stays at Amy’s house, leading to awkward but professional interactions between the two women. Amy soon deduces that the house explosion was not a serial killer's work but an arson and insurance fraud plot by the Goffs, who were desperate for money after their son's death. Parallel to this, Amy and Travis investigate the 'mummy' in the wall, identifying her as Deirdre Breyer, the wife of retired lawyer Bill Breyer. They discover Bill murdered his wife 16 years ago and had been trying to buy the house back for years to hide his secret. Just as these cases close, a sniper fires a shot at Amy and Travis through her living room window. While the police hunt for The Wolfman, news arrives that the serial killer was actually killed in Minnesota hours prior. Amy realizes the shooter is Joe, the university IT specialist. Joe had become obsessively 'in love' with Amy's friend Tabby and doctored university emails to ensure Tabby didn't get a promotion, hoping she would move to Oxford with him. He attempted to kill Amy to cover up his digital trail. After a tense confrontation, Joe is arrested. The film ends with Travis and Amy finally sharing a kiss, only to be interrupted by a call from Amy's father, Graham, revealing that her Uncle Alistar has gone missing, setting up a future mystery.
