About the series
Amy Winslow teaches crime fiction. Travis Burke investigates actual crimes. Their partnership starts when trouble on Amy's college campus gives her a chance to test the habits she teaches against evidence that cannot be rewritten. The books-and-police pairing is the reason to start here: Amy looks for a convincing story, while Travis needs a case he can prove. Her father Graham adds another writer's perspective to the family.
What to expect
Expect campus disputes, literary events and conversations about how people construct a story. The settings widen beyond the college, including a Seattle lecture and a family investigation in New York. Amy and Travis do much of their work together, so the attraction and disagreements between them matter alongside the clues.
The people who bring it to life

Inside the series
Hallmark numbers the seven cases
The official marathon list labels the original film Movie #1 and Deadly History Movie #7, so the release sequence is unusually easy to follow.
Read the sourceThe campus is a starting point
Dead Talk takes Amy to Seattle; Deadly History takes her to New York. The professor premise allows the cases to travel without replacing the central pair.
Read the sourceA few more answers
Do I need to understand literary theory?
No. Amy's teaching supplies her approach to a case; the films introduce the people and evidence as the investigation unfolds.
Can I begin with a later case?
You can follow an individual investigation, but the Amy and Travis relationship is easier to understand from the first film. The last two are best kept together.
