    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist spends a significant portion of the movie living on a wooden platform in a tree.
    • The love interest uses botanical insults like 'apical meristem'.
    • The protagonist carries 'emergency wine' in her purse for community-organizing crises.
    • The solution to the central conflict is turning sewage/water pipes into an 'artistic hub'.

    Full story (spoilers)
Aimie Roarke is the heart of Ample Hills, working for the Parks and Recreation department and constantly organizing community causes. Her latest challenge is finding a slogan for the Fall Harvest Festival, but her focus shifts when she learns that Mayor Tom Parker—her former prom date—has hired a contractor to cut down the town's beloved 'Big Old Tree' because its roots are destroying the municipal plumbing. Aimie meets Kyle Sorensen at the tree, initially mistaking him for a tourist before realizing he is the 'heartless monster' hired to cut it down. When the Mayor refuses to budge, Aimie chains herself to the tree in protest. Kyle, a man who left a corporate banking life for the outdoors, decides to camp out under the tree to wait her out. Over several days and nights, the two engage in a battle of wits that turns into mutual respect. Aimie builds a platform in the tree, and Kyle even helps her with the craftsmanship, calling her the 'apical meristem'—the part of the tree where growth happens. Meanwhile, a subplot involves Aimie's mother, Zee, who is secretly facing foreclosure on their family home after the death of Aimie's father. Zee is also being courted by the local Sheriff, Larry. The conflict escalates when Aimie misses a crucial meeting with the Mayor due to a logistical mishap, leading the Mayor to order the immediate removal of the tree. However, Aimie discovers her mother's financial situation and makes a heartbreaking deal: she will stop her protest and allow the tree to be cut down if the Mayor hires Zee as his new assistant, providing her with the income needed to save their house. Just as Kyle is about to cut the tree, he realizes he can't go through with it because of his feelings for Aimie. He buys her time, and Aimie comes up with 'Plan B': moving the plumbing pipes above ground and turning them into an artistic hub for the town. She rallies the community to donate the funds for the project. The Mayor is moved by the town's support and makes a personal donation. The film concludes at the Fall Harvest Festival, where the tree is saved, Zee has her new job and a date with the Sheriff, and Kyle decides to stay in Ample Hills to start a life with Aimie.
