    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The central conflict is literally caused by a budgeting software algorithm.
    • The town's primary romantic ritual is a 'Lantern Walk' across a footbridge to transition from fall to winter.
    • A 'Bachelor Bake-off' where women bid on a man's dessert to win a date with him.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Lacey Hathaway hosting her morning show at WPVK in Pleasant Valley, announcing the upcoming 'Bachelor Bake-off' fundraiser to save the station from town budget cuts. Meanwhile, Zac Malone, a software engineer from Boston, arrives in town to troubleshoot the very budgeting software that triggered those cuts. He stays at the guest house of Lacey's Aunt Patty. When the town's star bachelor, Ryan, drops out of the bake-off because he started dating someone, Lacey is desperate for a replacement. Despite their initial friction—Lacey views Zac as a rigid 'numbers guy' and Zac views Lacey's methods as inefficient—she convinces him to participate as the 'mystery bachelor' by promising to help him with his work-life balance while he helps her with the event's budget. As they spend time together, Lacey teaches Zac the 'ratios' of baking, moving him away from his reliance on precise code toward creative intuition. In return, Zac uses his software expertise to show Lacey that her original plans for an extravagant gala are financially unsustainable, leading her to move the event to Pete Taves' apple orchard. Their bond deepens during a community apple-picking event and the town's traditional lantern walk. However, professional opportunities create a rift: Lacey is offered an audition for the national radio show 'Small Town Life' in Boston, while Zac is called away to Georgia for a career-defining presentation to a mayor's council. Believing they want different things, they part ways. Zac realizes through his presentation that 'taking a break' and thinking outside the box—lessons he learned from Lacey—actually helped him fix his software bugs. He rushes back to Pleasant Valley just in time for the bake-off. During the event, Lacey performs her audition live on air, delivering a moving speech about how Zac helped her realize she is capable of anything. The event is a massive success, especially when Zac returns to bid a record-breaking amount on Lacey's 'seasonally inspired' vanilla and apple cake. The film concludes with the radio station saved, Lacey accepting a trial run for the national show, and Zac promising to be there for her when she returns home.
