    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The recurring 'helicopter parent' metaphor where characters literally discuss helicopter engines being on or off.
    • Hugo's aggressive insistence that 'neutral' is a sin in art and life.
    • The plot point involving a character being allergic to roses but then suddenly not being allergic anymore.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with a flashback to twenty years prior, where young Lindsey and Jack place a padlock on a Parisian bridge, promising that their love will last forever. However, life intervenes; Lindsey returns to New York for school, and despite plans to reunite at the Empire State Building, they drift apart. In the present day, Lindsey is the editor of POV, an art magazine in New York. She is approached by Trent Greer, a wealthy publicist who wants to buy her magazine and take her out on a date. Lindsey is hesitant to sell her 'life's work' but agrees to think about it while taking her daughter, Alexa, to Paris for a semester abroad. Upon arriving in Paris, Lindsey is shocked to find that the hotel recommended by her old mentor Hugo is owned by Jack. The reunion is awkward, as Jack is now a successful hotelier and Lindsey is a divorced mother. While Alexa begins a whirlwind romance with a local student named Jean Paul (JP), Lindsey finds herself caught between two worlds. Trent Greer arrives in Paris to pressure her into the business deal, while Jack attempts to reconnect by showing her the city and even arranging a private, after-hours visit to the Louvre. Secondary arcs involve Kathryn, a widow staying at the hotel who is searching for the lock she and her late husband placed decades ago, and Hugo, an eccentric art teacher who insists Lindsey must stop being a 'neutral' observer and start painting again. Hugo pushes Lindsey to finish a canvas she started twenty years ago. The conflict peaks when Lindsey initially agrees to sell her magazine to Trent, fearing that she has lost her identity as an artist. However, after a heart-to-heart with Kathryn about not letting love slip away and a disappointing 'business date' with Trent, Lindsey realizes she doesn't want to be a corporate consultant. In the final act, Lindsey returns to New York and officially sells the magazine but declines the job offer, choosing to move back to Paris to pursue painting. She returns to the hotel on Valentine's Day to surprise Jack. They meet on the bridge where it all began, acknowledging that while the city may cut down the physical locks, the promises remain. They place a new lock on the bridge together, finally fulfilling the promise they made as teenagers.
