    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Henry Ross, a gourmet consultant, preparing for a high-profile culinary conference while his partner, Detective Maggie Price, is forced by her captain to take a long-overdue vacation. Henry invites Maggie to join him at the Larkspur Pines Resort, promising a relaxing weekend of spa treatments and fine dining. Upon arrival, they meet Kathleen Evans, a journalist known for writing career-ending exposés, who tells Henry she has urgent information to share. Tensions rise at the welcome reception when famous actress Danielle Stark publicly threatens Kathleen for ruining her career, and chef Michael Castellano expresses similar vitriol. Later that night, Henry witnesses a woman floating face-down in the mineral baths from his balcony, but by the time he and Maggie reach the pool, the body has vanished. Despite the lack of a body, Maggie and Henry begin a discreet investigation. They discover Kathleen's missing computer and notes, which lead them to suspect Eric Helberg, a chef who was romantically involved with Kathleen and angry about her latest draft. The investigation takes a turn when they find Kathleen’s body hidden in a remote outbuilding, confirming she was drowned. Maggie’s captain arrives, giving her 24 hours to solve the case before a full lockdown. Henry notices a strange dynamic between the resort owner, Evelynn de Witt, and her head chef, Lucas Miller. When Evelynn suddenly collapses from a suspected heart attack, Henry’s culinary knowledge allows him to identify the scent of saline in her drink, realizing she has been poisoned with tetrahydrozoline (eye drops). Henry and Maggie research the specific poisoning method and discover a cold case from Ashford, England, involving two chefs who fled after poisoning their business partner. They realize that Lucas and his wife/sous-chef Gretchen are actually the fugitives Bob Smith and Linda French. Kathleen had discovered their true identities, leading Lucas to kill her to protect their secret. In the climax, Maggie corners the couple in the hotel basement, but Lucas takes Gretchen hostage at gunpoint to facilitate his escape. Henry intervenes, using a heavy frying pan to disarm Lucas in a kitchen-style combat move. The film concludes with the killers in custody, Maggie’s vacation technically 'saved' by the arrest, and the duo acknowledging their effective, albeit chaotic, partnership.
