    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The central 'scandal' involves a chef using a food critic as a 'human garbage can' by dumping a plate of food on him.
    • The antagonist's primary villainous act is stealing a physical notebook of ideas in the digital age.
    • The show's host is replaced because she 'bent over and didn't quite get back up again.'

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Kelly Mader, a producer on the hit children's cooking show 'The Little Gourmet,' auditioning young chefs. The show's creator, Amanda, reveals she is leaving for an executive role, leaving the showrunner position open. Disaster strikes when the host, Chef Betty, suffers a slipped disc on the first day of filming. Kelly suggests hiring Stephen Harris, a world-renowned chef whose career is currently reeling from a viral video showing him dumping food on a critic. Stephen agrees to host to rehab his image, but he immediately clashes with Kelly over the show's 'pedestrian' menu, preferring sophisticated ingredients like radicchio over Sloppy Joes. Meanwhile, the network brings in Jeremy Walsh, an ambitious producer who begins competing with Kelly for Amanda's soon-to-be-vacant position. As production continues, Kelly and Stephen find common ground. Stephen takes Kelly to a farmer's market to teach her about 'farm to table' cooking, and they eventually bond over a late-night pizza-making session in the studio kitchen. Stephen reveals his lonely childhood as an army brat, while Kelly shares her desire to honor her late mother's legacy of helping children. Their professional relationship turns romantic during a date at Stephen's restaurant, L'Orange, where he gives her purple and yellow roses symbolizing admiration and friendship. However, tension arises when Jeremy steals Kelly's notebook of innovative show ideas and pitches them to the network as his own. As the live finale approaches, Chef Betty returns to reclaim her hosting duties, and Stephen prepares to leave for a new show offer in Los Angeles. During the live broadcast at a local farm, Betty suffers a recurrence of her injury (or a 'reflex' freeze), leaving the show in jeopardy. Kelly convinces Stephen to stay and host the finale, which becomes a massive success. In the aftermath, Amanda realizes Jeremy stole Kelly's ideas and fires him, offering Kelly the showrunner position. Stephen decides to turn down the Los Angeles job, choosing to stay in New York to be with Kelly and help her run the show, concluding with the two of them planning a new apprenticeship program for the young contestants.
