    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist accidentally catfishes her own divorced parents into dating each other.
    • The parents decide to have a 'fling' and hide it from their adult daughter like teenagers.
    • The dating app 'Organic Chemistry' uses a literal unblurring mechanic based on 'emotional connection' points.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Alicia reflecting on her parents' divorce, which shattered her 'princess' worldview and turned her into a 'worrisome daughter' obsessed with others' happiness. Now married to Arnold, a web developer, Alicia spends her time matchmaking for friends like Kam. Concerned about her parents, Brenda (a dance professor) and Jack (a retired attorney), Alicia convinces them to join 'Organic Chemistry,' a dating app created by Arnold's company that unblurs photos only after an emotional connection is made. Using pseudonyms 'Finding Peace' and 'Looking to Laugh,' Brenda and Jack unknowingly match with each other. Their first date at a restaurant is a shock, but they decide to have dinner anyway, leading to a nostalgic night of dancing and a 'fling' that they keep secret from Alicia. Meanwhile, Arnold feels neglected as Alicia prioritizes her parents over their fifth anniversary and his desire to start a family. The secret romance hits a snag when Brenda realizes they haven't addressed the issues that caused their divorce—specifically Jack's overbearing nature and Brenda's need for independence. After a misunderstanding involving Jack's ex-girlfriend Jada, Alicia discovers the truth about her parents' secret dating. She realizes her obsession with her parents' happiness was a way to avoid her own fears about marriage and motherhood. At a couples' retreat, Jack makes a grand public declaration of love to Brenda, promising to support her light rather than dim it. The film ends with Brenda and Jack remarried and Alicia and Arnold welcoming a baby girl, finally focusing on their own 'main character' story.
