A Greek Recipe for Romance

Abby Dolan starts the story in New York, where she is hoping for a long-awaited promotion at a hotel. Her morning goes from stressful to disastrous when a pipe bursts, a VIP guest needs an emergency room change, and then she is told she has been downsized. At the same time, her mother Jackie calls from Greece to wish her luck, only for Abby to arrive in Syros and discover that her mother's inherited villa is in trouble: because it has been vacant for years, it must serve food on the premises within two weeks or lose its commercial zoning. Theo reveals that he has returned to the island to revive his mother's restaurant dream, and the two begin building a business plan: they scout flea markets for decor, study local tavernas, design a menu around seasonal ingredients, and use Abby's organizational skills to shape the concept into a real business. Their collaboration deepens into romance as they spend long days and late nights working side by side, sharing family memories, and opening up about loss, ambition, and what they want their lives to mean. The middle of the story complicates things when Abby learns that Theo has been hiding his true identity. He has been using his mother's surname, Christodoulopoulos, but he is actually Theo Pappas, the son of Nikolas Pappas, a powerful shipping magnate. While Abby is trying to save the restaurant and also build experience for a job interview back in New York, Theo is fighting his father's attempts to pull him into the family business in Athens. A tax bill threatens their opening, an investor demands compromises Abby does not like, and Theo's father sends Dimitris to pressure him to leave the villa and abandon his dreams. When the restaurant fails its inspection, Abby and Theo pivot fast and stage their grand opening as part of Jackie and Yannis's open-house event at Villa Pappas. They prepare the food at the restaurant, deliver it to the villa, and serve guests across the patio and dining areas. The event is a huge success, the food wins over the crowd, and the villa begins attracting serious offers. Afterward, Theo confesses that he likes everything about Abby and that their time together has been the best of his life, but Abby receives a job offer in New York and decides she has to go home. In the end, Theo finally reconciles with his father, who supports him by buying the villa and giving it to him, and Abby realizes she may not be ready to leave Greece after all.
