    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The inciting incident is a massive, life-ruining Ponzi scheme.
    • Nick's childhood recipe for 'Sugar Balls' which is just a stick of butter rolled in sugar.
    • The 'Chicken Chocolate Chip Cookies' joke.
    • The main couple calling off the wedding at the altar is a relatively rare 'failed' wedding for Hallmark.

    Full story (spoilers)
Molly, a high-fashion designer in New York City, is the maid of honor for her best friend Amy, who is set to marry James. The wedding plans are thrown into chaos when Amy's parents lose their entire life savings to a pyramid scheme orchestrated by Frank Van Allen. Simultaneously, Nick, James's best man and a professional chef, loses the funding for his new restaurant due to the same scheme. To save the wedding, Nick suggests using his father Charlie's closed-down inn in the Berkshires. Molly and Nick travel to the inn, which is in a state of disrepair following the death of Nick's mother, Clarissa. The two initially clash; Molly prefers comfort and 'ranch dressing' simplicity, while Nick is a proponent of 'Modern American Fusion' and minimalist aesthetics. As they work to renovate the barn for the ceremony, they begin to bond. Molly discovers Nick's childhood recipe book, which includes bizarre items like 'sugar balls' and 'chicken chocolate chip cookies,' and they share a romantic moment during a rainstorm where Molly teaches the high-strung Nick how to relax. Meanwhile, the actual couple, Amy and James, arrive and begin to show signs of strain, arguing over whether to live in the city or the country. Nick also reconciles with his father, Charlie, after reading old, poetic love letters Charlie wrote to Clarissa. On the day of the wedding, Amy and James realize they have fundamental differences and decide to call off the ceremony, much to the shock of their guests. In the aftermath, Molly and Nick have a misunderstanding about their future; Molly fears Nick only sees their time together as a 'fantasy' and flees back to New York. Weeks later, both are successful in their careers—Molly with a new fashion line and Nick with a revamped restaurant—but they are miserable. Molly eventually returns to the inn to find Nick, who surprises her by playing 'Clair de Lune' on the piano, a piece he previously claimed he couldn't play. Nick proposes, and they decide to reopen and run the inn together as a couple.
