    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's aunt is a ballistics expert because she dated a weapons expert on a fictional police show called 'Major Justice'.
    • Jane solves a high-stakes murder case while maintaining a career as a professional lounge singer.
    • The 'Foundation for Righting Wrongs' is a very specific, almost superhero-like organization name for a Hallmark movie.
    • Aunt Sadie fights off a serial killer with a fire poker and 'acting skills' during a date.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Jane Da Silva performing a jazz set at a club where she meets John Cameron, a detective who also plays in the band. Jane has recently returned to Baltimore to run the Foundation for Righting Wrongs, a legacy of her late Uncle Harold. She is approached by Sandra Shea, whose son Ryan is serving a 15-year sentence for the murder of pharmacist Phyllis Collins. Ryan admits to the robbery—attempted only to get medication for his sick mother—but claims his confession to the shooting was coerced by police after hours of interrogation without a guardian. Jane visits Ryan in prison and becomes convinced of his innocence when he describes a scuffle where he lost possession of the gun. Jane’s Aunt Sadie, a former actress with a surprising background in ballistics, helps Jane recreate the crime scene. They determine that the bullet trajectory required a shooter taller than Ryan was at the time of the crime. Jane investigates the pharmacy staff, including the widower Jason Collins and the current owner Kyle Ganti. She discovers that a stock boy, Joe Harper, died suspiciously of a 'seizure' shortly after the murder. Further digging reveals an insurance fraud scheme involving a customer named Jennifer Gilbert and her roommate Chloe MacPherson. When Jane finds Chloe dead from poisoned pills, she realizes someone is systematically silencing witnesses. Jane tracks Jennifer to a casino, where she goes undercover as a singer to get close to her. Jennifer reveals that Jason Collins was the one who shot his wife after she caught him in a heated argument. Jason had been written out of his father-in-law's will and killed Phyllis to seize control of the business. Meanwhile, Jason attempts to eliminate Aunt Sadie by taking her on a date, but Sadie uses her theatrical skills and physical prowess to defend herself until Jane and John arrive. Jason is arrested for multiple murders, Ryan is exonerated and reunited with his mother, and Jane and John solidify their romantic and professional partnership with a final musical performance.
