Space Warriors

Jimmy Hawkins is a space-obsessed teenager whose father, Andy, was fired from NASA after a dispute over a heat shield that preceded a shuttle tragedy. Jimmy wins a spot at Space Camp by writing a poem, but his mother, a lawyer who lost a relative in a shuttle explosion, forbids him from going. To attend, Jimmy uses a voice-cloning app to trick his parents into thinking he is with the other parent on a camping trip. At camp, he joins the 'Warriors' team: Tao (rockets), Sergei (coding), Rusty (mechanic), Dani (robotics), and Lacey (pilot). They are overseen by Captain Roy Manley, the man who originally fired Jimmy's father. The Warriors struggle initially, losing a docking simulation to the 'Titans' because they prioritized speed over precision. Jimmy develops a bond with Lacey, who reveals she lied about her age to enter the competition. Meanwhile, the Titans' leader, Hunter, resorts to cheating and sabotage to maintain his lead. Just as the competition concludes with a Titan victory, Jimmy's parents discover his deception and arrive at the camp to take him home. Simultaneously, a real-world crisis unfolds: a satellite collision has damaged the International Space Station, leaving three astronauts stranded in a module with failing oxygen and an ammonia leak. With the Russian rescue ship hours too far away, Jimmy proposes a radical plan: use the camp's advanced mockup and remote-control 'Robonaut' technology to repair the ISS from Earth. Captain Manley and Jimmy's father, Andy, set aside their past animosity to support the kids. Using a ham radio to establish contact, the kids instruct the astronauts to enter a 'deep sleep' to conserve oxygen. Lacey pilots the entire Space Station to avoid further debris, while Dani and Rusty use the remote robot to replace a faulty ammonia pump. The mission is a success, and the astronauts are saved. The Warriors are retroactively awarded the championship trophy, and while Jimmy is grounded for two months, he earns his parents' respect and reconciles with his father.
