    Wait, what?

    • The central mystery is solved by realizing a 'V' was actually a 'W' for New Mexico.
    • A search-and-rescue dog tracks a man specifically by the scent of his church choir robe.
    • The plot hinges on a 'Divine Delivery Theory' where letters are believed to have supernatural destinies.
    • Norman's extensive knowledge of the Mongol Empire's mail system and pepper heat scales.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film begins with Oliver O'Toole and his father, Joe, filming a promotional commercial for the USPS, during which a young boy mistakenly drops a damaged letter into a prop mailbox. Shortly after, the team mourns the sudden passing of their colleague Eleanor from the Passport department. Amidst this grief, Joe challenges Oliver to a bet: if the next 'dead letter' they find doesn't make a miraculous difference in the world, Oliver must go camping with him. The team discovers the boy's letter, which contains a t-shirt and a bucket list for 'Sandy,' including items like watching sunsets and eating tamales. Believing Sandy is a dying woman in Las Vegas, Nevada, the team begins an investigation. Norman and Rita eventually realize the address was actually for Las Vegas, New Mexico, after Norman notices the 'V' in the state abbreviation was actually a partial 'W.' While Norman and Rita head to New Mexico to find the 'hottest mole sauce' mentioned in the letter, Oliver honors his commitment to his father and goes backpacking in Eldorado Canyon. The trip takes a dark turn when Joe falls and sustains a seemingly minor rib injury that quickly turns into a life-threatening infection. Back in New Mexico, Norman and Rita find the recipient and are shocked to discover that Sandy is not a woman, but a highly decorated K9 search-and-rescue dog with PTSD. Her handler, a veteran named Topper, had sent the letter because he couldn't afford to buy her from the military contractor. As Oliver and Joe become trapped and incapacitated in the woods, Shane and the local police (led by Oliver's friend Dale) realize they are missing. In a climactic moment of 'divine delivery,' the team uses Sandy's specialized tracking skills, scented by Oliver's choir robe, to locate the men just before Joe succumbs to sepsis. The film concludes with Joe's recovery and a reconciliation between father and son. Topper is reunited with Sandy, and Oliver finally overcomes his fear of emotional vulnerability, sharing a long-awaited first kiss and a real date with Shane.
