Long Lost Christmas

The film opens with Hayley Brandt, a Denver-based interior designer, struggling to maintain her holiday spirit six months after her father's death. While helping her mother, Patricia, with Christmas decorations, Hayley discovers an old photograph of a boy named Gordon. Patricia reveals that Gordon was her older brother who protected her in a group home but disappeared after he aged out of the system at 19. Driven to reunite her mother with her only living relative, Hayley tracks a 'Gordon Renton' to Silver Valley, Colorado. She tells her mother she is going on a sourcing trip for Mrs. Peterson’s Designer Showcase, a high-stakes career opportunity. Upon arriving in Silver Valley, Hayley has a clumsy meet-cute with Jake Pierce, the business partner of Gordon Renton at Timber Grove Cabins. To get close to Gordon, Hayley concocts a lie about planning a neighborhood reunion. She also befriends Brianna, Gordon’s daughter and a talented furniture designer, whose work Hayley plans to feature in her showcase. As Hayley spends time with the family, she notices striking similarities between Gordon and Patricia, including a shared obsession with 'candy cane cookies' and specific domestic habits. However, when Hayley subtly probes about his past, Gordon claims he was an only child with no family. The professional stakes rise when Hayley is demoted from decorating a study to a small mudroom in the showcase house, but she uses the opportunity to highlight Brianna’s furniture. The emotional climax occurs during a fundraiser for the Braithwaite group home—the same institution where Patricia and Gordon grew up. Hayley realizes Gordon has been anonymously supporting the home for years. She confronts him about abandoning his sister, leading to a tense revelation where Gordon admits he stayed away to ensure Patricia would be adopted by a stable family without the 'burden' of his troubled youth. Hayley returns to Denver, feeling she has failed, but Gordon, Brianna, and Jake surprise her on Christmas Eve. Gordon and Patricia share a tearful reunion, finally closing the door on decades of separation. The film ends with the families celebrating together, and Hayley and Jake beginning a romance based on their new personal and professional connections.
