    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A suburban soccer mom is secretly a top-tier government intelligence asset codenamed Jane Doe.
    • The mob boss escapes prison by wearing a wig and padding himself to look like a specific janitor.
    • The janitor accomplice waits in a storage room eating Twinkies while the mobster takes his shift.
    • The protagonist's daughter's talent show subplot is treated with the same narrative weight as a half-billion-dollar international arms deal.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with CSA surveillance of a birthday party for mob boss Louis Angelini, identifying his inner circle: his son Joey, his lawyer Hugo Verardi, and his second-in-command Vincent Colabella. When an informant named Arman Nordstrom is found murdered, Louis is arrested and sentenced to life. However, while in prison, Louis suffers a massive heart attack and is pronounced dead. When his body mysteriously vanishes from the infirmary, Frank Darnell recruits Cathy Davis to solve the puzzle. Cathy quickly deduces that Louis faked his death using drugs to mimic a heart attack and escaped by disguising himself as a long-haired maintenance man named Parsons, while the real Parsons hid in a storage room eating Twinkies. As the investigation proceeds, the corrupt prison doctor is killed in a staged car accident, and Cathy realizes the nurse and Parsons were in on the scheme. Meanwhile, Cathy's domestic life is strained; her daughter Susan is terrified of performing an original song in a talent show, and her husband Jack becomes increasingly jealous of the time Cathy spends with Frank, especially after noticing she has removed her wedding ring for her undercover work. Cathy and Frank attempt to 'smoke out' Angelini by feeding Parsons information that the mobster was betrayed by someone close to him. This leads to a series of hits as Angelini seeks revenge, eventually murdering Parsons at the Santa Monica Pier. Cathy follows leads involving a luxury yacht dealer and Angelini's lawyer, discovering a plan for Louis to flee to Panama to finalize a half-billion-dollar arms deal. The climax occurs at Whiteman Airport, where Louis confronts his son, Joey. It is revealed that Joey was the one who ratted out his father to the feds, fueled by resentment over being excluded from the family business. In a tragic confrontation, Louis expresses his love for his son before a struggle leads to a fatal shooting. The film concludes with Susan successfully performing her song at the talent show with her parents' support. Finally, Cathy decides to tell Jack the truth about her secret identity as a CSA agent, and they reconcile.
