    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The murder victim is a 'cereal magnate' who treats breakfast food like national security.
    • A dead body is hidden in a yacht's fish cooler with rock salt to manipulate the stock market.
    • The villain uses an anagram of the victim's name (Monsieur LeVille) to leak documents.
    • The protagonist's children lose their actual college savings because of a 'fantasy' stock market school project.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Melville Horning, the paranoid and reclusive CEO of Horning Foods, confronting his four vice presidents—Vasquez, DeStefano, Shaunessy, and Maynard—on his private yacht regarding a leaked documentary. Jim Monroe, a former CSA agent working security, witnesses Horning fall overboard on Saturday night and attempts a rescue, but the VPs pull Horning out and claim he is alive, subsequently firing Jim for being 'drunk.' When Horning's body is found at his beach house on Tuesday, the coroner rules it an accidental drowning from Monday night. Cathy Davis is brought in by Frank Darnell to help Jim, who maintains his sobriety and his version of events. Cathy's investigation reveals that Horning's 'live' Monday morning TV interview was actually faked using canned footage and a different chair. She discovers that the four VPs sold their stock on Monday morning, realizing a massive profit before the death became public. Cathy visits the yacht and deduces that the VPs used a large 'catch cooler' packed with ice and rock salt to preserve Horning's body, effectively freezing the time of death to allow for the stock dump. Meanwhile, Cathy's children, Susan and Nick, accidentally lose their college savings by investing in Horning stock for a school project, leading them to frantically clean the garage to raise funds. Cathy eventually discovers that Douglas Maynard is actually Horning's unacknowledged biological son. However, the true mastermind is revealed to be Stella Andre, the CFO, who drugged Jim and the yacht captain, leaked the corporate secrets to a filmmaker under the anagram 'Monsieur LeVille,' and manipulated the emotionally wounded Maynard into killing his father. The film reaches its climax at a helipad where Stella attempts to flee; she confesses her plan to Cathy before Jim, wearing body armor, saves Cathy from Stella's gunfire. The movie concludes with Jim being reinstated at the CSA and Cathy's children discovering that the stock price rebounded, saving their savings.
