Hailey Dean Mysteries: Death on Duty

The film begins with Hailey Dean working from home while her office is being fumigated. She and Fincher Garland run into Kurt Cullen, an old friend of Fincher's from the Marine Corps. Kurt is in Atlanta inspecting civilian contractors for the military, but he appears anxious and preoccupied. After a tense dinner where Kurt's wife Kayla expresses frustration over his secrecy, Kurt calls Fincher for help but is murdered before they can meet. His body is discovered in Piercedale Park with a gunshot wound to the temple. Because Kurt was active duty, the military police, led by Sergeant Nesbit, take jurisdiction, but Hailey and Fincher begin their own investigation. Using Kurt's fitness tracker, they trace his final movements to two suppliers: Alisa Greystone and Tom Houston. They soon discover a second body in the same park—Private Cheryl Park—who had been reported AWOL. Hailey realizes Cheryl was a whistleblower who had sent Kurt a photo of crates as 'proof' of illegal activity. The investigation reveals that Lieutenant Chris Young is dating Alisa Greystone and has been burying negative inspection reports. However, the true mastermind is revealed when Hailey tracks the crates in Cheryl's photo to Tom Houston's warehouse. She finds Tom, who admits to the gun-running but claims he isn't the killer. Sergeant Nesbit arrives and reveals himself as the murderer, having killed both Kurt and Cheryl to protect the lucrative gun-running scheme. Fincher arrives just in time to save Hailey, nearly killing Nesbit in a fit of rage before Hailey talks him down. Parallel to the mystery, Jonas is recruited for a 'Dashing Doctors' fundraising calendar. He unexpectedly becomes the cover star, leading to a surge in local fame that triggers Hailey's jealousy. The film concludes with the gun-runners arrested, the DA offering Hailey her old job back, and Hailey and Jonas finally confessing their love for one another.
